As if "Toddlers & Tiaras" wasn't getting enough criticism as it is, TLC is getting ready to air a six-episode spinoff series called "Here Comes Honey Boo Boo," starring Alana Thompson from the original series. The series will focus on Thompson's family life, instead of the world of toddler beauty pageants, so critics of the original series might find something a little more substantial. Maybe.

The Thompson family consists of dad "Sugar Bear," mom June, 17-year-old "Chickadee," 15-year-old "Chubbs," 12-year-old "Pumpkin," and of course, 6-year-old Alana. TLC describes them as "unapologetically outrageous" -- just what reality TV junkies want to see. The show airs August 8. But does this sound any better than "Toddlers & Tiaras" or is it just furthering its negative aspects?

Sad how entertainment is now comprised of fake "reality" shows where the attention starved ham it up for ratings and "celeb" status. I don't want to sit around and be irritated on my off hours, I can get the same effect by being at work.

It's still exploiting this little girl, making her into a spectacle. Her attention whore mom is obviously living vicariously through her. This child is learning that all she has to do is look pretty and everything will be handed to her. It will be a miracle if she doesn't grow up to be either an insufferable bitch or a miserable mess.

I'll admit I haven't seen the original, except in clips, but if a kid her age is drinking half energy drink, half caffeinated drink I'd say that's a pretty terrible show.

Actually, I think it's worse.

I can watch "Toddlers & Tiaras" on those brainless days, where thinking isn't my friend, and not be completely appalled at the occasional train wrecks that appear on the show. "Honey Boo Boo Child" makes me want to smash my television. I'm trying to refrain from passing such harsh judgement on that child -- but considering how she's being raised, it's not like me calling her a self-absorbed miniature nitwit is going to really affect anything and it won't be the last time she hears it. Her mother clearly is the offspring of Jabba the Hutt, and just as disgusting. Hopefully her weight causes a relatively early death so Honey Boo Boo Child has a chance of growing up normal.
