'Today' Show Skips 9/11 Coverage for Kris Jenner Interview: OK or Inappropriate?

So much for "we will never forget." NBC's "Today" show is being slammed for choosing to chat with Kris Jenner (aka Mama Kardashian) about her breast implants rather than honoring a moment of silence Tuesday at the time of the 9/11 attacks.

kris jenner

New York City's local affiliate WNBC did cut in to cover the moment at 8:46 a.m., Yahoo! reports, but nationally, viewers watched Savannah Guthrie interviewing Jenner instead. Guthrie did announce at 8:45 that the moment of silence was to begin -- then proceeded to talk to Jenner about swapping out her implants (and filming the operation).

"The reason I went in and did that was because I had had my implants in for 152 years -- you know, a long time, way longer than their shelf life. I made fun of myself. Because at my age, you're over 50 -- like, when do you stop? But it was so important, health-wise, to remind women to check your expiration date because it's a health risk," Jenner said, explaining that she had her implants put in in 1989. We think Kris Jenner -- and the "Today" show -- may be past their expiration date, too.

Alright, the way I see it is this: We can't always have remembrance of 9/11 in the future, and we all need to move on - and we indeed have - but it has only been 11 years since and in retrospect, even though we've moved on, the wounds are still fairly fresh.

I don't expect an entire show dedicated to 9/11, but a small segment would have sufficed. At least acknowledgement of the event, even if it was a five-minute piece. I think we can all go without listening about the breast implants of someone we don't even care about.

Really, we need another reason to hate the Kardashian species like we need another hole in our head anyway.

Maybe if it wasn't about Jenner - her IMPLANTS for that matter - everyone wouldn't be AS offended. But hey, maybe the silver lining is this will send the message to the media: no one gives a flying fink about the Kardashians, or anyone/anything like them for that matter, so stop putting this BS on TV.

Its the patriotic thing to do and it's only once a year. This country was under attack on that day in 2001. I was watching good morning america and saw the plane attack right before my eyes looking out the window behind diane sawyer. So many people lost their lives, but you and I are still here as witnesses to this phenomenon of all the attacks that happened.

???How can it be for ratings; when every station is showing the same thing simultaneously?
Well this year not "nbc" hmmm...they felt her fake tits meant more than solidarity of showing respect for the "lives lost on that date" 9/11/01 Tuesday a.m. "Never forget American History that you can actually write about, because you were here on this earth and on this date and it is a part of your history to tell at any given time. That is why it is significant to always remember and never forget. It is not political or a scare tactic; but more so a reminder of living history that you cannot forget because, it happened in your lifetime and you are a witness on earth.

It's fine that they want to skip the 9/11 coverage and all, but don't bring Jenner on the show to talk about her breasts! At least air some segment that's worth watching. Gosh, how trashy is that?

I think people just tune in each year showing solidarity to the broadcasting stations that shows commemoration to all the lost victims on that date in 2001.
We are witnesses and we still remember on that day what we were doing. Always remember never forget, never forget 09.11.01 it happened on a Tuesday morning and it was as if time stood still with so much tragedy and disbelief.

Of course most of the masses of citizens of the U.S. not everyone; feel that is what happened as a way of diversion for other crimes committed etc. That is the theory that the people of this country has, just don't have the hard proof. Perhaps some of the players that participated in this conspiracy theory will talk on their deathbed or in a book before they die to set the history records straight.
people don't point fingers even though they have ideals of who did it.
So yes I hear you loud and clear.

If it was something important like how a due saved a child from a burning building or how a dying millionaire donated his entire fortune to an animal shelter I could see the reasoning. But an interview about another Hollywood has-bin's breast implants? Seriously?

But honestly, when's the last time anyone took the Today show seriously, if ever?

To me, that is rude and disrespectful to the families of people who lost a loved one in 9/11. I could have lost my mother in 9/11 but she lived.

No one will forget, but we can't constantly keep reminding ourselves of "sad event" every year. It's like funeral, you can't constantly keep focus on the person that died. I think a 2 year public anniversary for a while would be good then 4 or 5 year later on. A constantly reminding us that 9/11 happen gets annoying. YES IT HAPPEN, but as sad as it maybe for you to hear you have to move on. Dwelling on the past will do nothing for you because you can't do anything to prevent something that happen. Live towards stopping future terreorist attacks.

Who said that I haven't moved on? I don't think it's too much to ask for, to take one day out of the year to remember something like this, after all everybody seems to take a whole month out of the year just for christmas. I don't think that remembering is the same thing as "dwelling" remembering means that we know what were fighting for and we will take steps to keep anything like 9/11 from ever happening again. The fact that the people are willing to skip over 9/11 so easily just goes to show how easily we really do forget. We need to learn from our history, because if we don't then we are doomed to repeat it.
