'Today' Show Skips 9/11 Coverage for Kris Jenner Interview: OK or Inappropriate?

So much for "we will never forget." NBC's "Today" show is being slammed for choosing to chat with Kris Jenner (aka Mama Kardashian) about her breast implants rather than honoring a moment of silence Tuesday at the time of the 9/11 attacks.

kris jenner

New York City's local affiliate WNBC did cut in to cover the moment at 8:46 a.m., Yahoo! reports, but nationally, viewers watched Savannah Guthrie interviewing Jenner instead. Guthrie did announce at 8:45 that the moment of silence was to begin -- then proceeded to talk to Jenner about swapping out her implants (and filming the operation).

"The reason I went in and did that was because I had had my implants in for 152 years -- you know, a long time, way longer than their shelf life. I made fun of myself. Because at my age, you're over 50 -- like, when do you stop? But it was so important, health-wise, to remind women to check your expiration date because it's a health risk," Jenner said, explaining that she had her implants put in in 1989. We think Kris Jenner -- and the "Today" show -- may be past their expiration date, too.

Alright, the way I see it is this: We can't always have remembrance of 9/11 in the future, and we all need to move on - and we indeed have - but it has only been 11 years since and in retrospect, even though we've moved on, the wounds are still fairly fresh.

I don't expect an entire show dedicated to 9/11, but a small segment would have sufficed. At least acknowledgement of the event, even if it was a five-minute piece. I think we can all go without listening about the breast implants of someone we don't even care about.

Really, we need another reason to hate the Kardashian species like we need another hole in our head anyway.

Maybe if it wasn't about Jenner - her IMPLANTS for that matter - everyone wouldn't be AS offended. But hey, maybe the silver lining is this will send the message to the media: no one gives a flying fink about the Kardashians, or anyone/anything like them for that matter, so stop putting this BS on TV.

I'm guessing that Guthrie thought that they'd cut away to the moment of silence then once it was done, there'd only be a minute of catch up for the national viewers. This could be taken from other segments or commercials. ...Someone's ass got a chewin'.

If they all really wanted to pay respect for the effects of 9/11. They'd have a moment of silence for the... (depending on who's estimate you want to believe)... 61,000 to 101,000 innocent Iraqi citizens killed in a war over somthing that Iraq had nothing to do with.

and the innocent husbands and wives, mothers and fathers and children who died in attack on 9/11dont matter? or did they have something to do with it?

They matter as well ofcourse. But I just don't like the one sidedness of it. We were wrong and had no right. And no one wants to own up to it. I think that is unamerican.

They supposedly had weapons of mass destruction. The UN wanted to go in as a neutral agency and confirm that there were, but we saved them the trouble and invaded.

Another act of Liberalism and or another move of socialist by the media. Same network that showed bias coverage of the conventions, it was very obvious. It will be interesting to see the reaction of this particular network when Romney wins the election. Just a voter that is trying to decide which is better the idiot in office and or a guy that i am not sure is the right guy. Just do not want 4 more years of what we have now.

Does anyone even remember the alamo or the Maine , the Lusitania or Pearl harbor anymore? Does any network do anything special for these tragic historical events from our history, come on people it was horrific yes, but it's been 11 years. I don't mind remembering but it always seems as if it always becomes a political football to support one party or another or one cause or another.
