I am proud of Erik, and I do send him my congratulations, he's a friend of my grandaughter Paris, who ran track for Bowsher High School in Toledo, Ohio, she and Erik met during the field and track meets for the public school system. Erik comes from a large family and I am sure that they are all proud of him. His mother and father are to be commended for a job well done. Erik's demeanor, character and mannerism is a sure reflection of having good core values, and is a true example that hard work results in many rewards. Kudos to Erik as he prepares to go off to college.

Someone from my hometown won a gold at the olympics in Mexico years ago. He was several years ahead of me in school. We were all really proud of him.

Yes, I would be proud of an Olympic medalist. Aly Raisman is from my hometown of Needham MA. That's about as close as I've come to a medalist!

Erik comes from a very driven and good family, and from the turn out that the city and the Toledo Public School gave him, they also was proud to have him represent our fair city. I couldn't get over the basketball play when one of the guys purposely hit Carmelo in the groin, I was so angry, but very proud that Carmelo and his team mates had enough intelligence not to go ghetto on him, instead they took their anger out on the court. Had that been one of the fellas from the USA team, I have a feeling that they would have been home watching the olympics on their televisions. So yes, when young men and women meet the kind of achievements that Erik has made and the others that participated in the Olympics, it really makes you proud, especially when they happen to come from your hometown. Thanks for your resonse.

Are we referring to athletics? The state of Ohio is a popular place where the politicians are concerned, and Toledo, Ohio is one of President Obama's favorite places, and when I look at a winner, I have chosen President Obama as my winner.

Awww how good for him & how proud of him we all should be. It's about time we had someone bring a positive light onto our city, instead of making national news for the bad things! I agree, he sure does resemble Kobe! I didn't know he was on Letterman and when looking at his picture holding his plaque it's hard not to be emotional...and again proud of this young man! Also, reading at the top "Toledo Public Schools" it just goes to show that it doesn't matter where you attend, if you apply yourself you can make the best of it!

I swear he and Kobie look like biological brothers, and isn't it ironic that the good Lord allowed Erik to meet Kobie? That is awesome. When we moved to Toledo, my two oldest children went to Scott, I told them that I didn't have a problem with Scott, but I would not tolerate D's and F's. They did well. My youngest daughter went to Scott for a half of day, she just couldn't adapt, in West Virginia, the schools were predominately White, and the ethnicity at Scott was too much for her to deal with. So, she graduated out of Devilbiss. It made it real interesting when Devilbiss and Scott came together in
football and basketball. I once was asked to leave the Devilbiss side, because I was cheering for Scott, they sure didn't like that, ha!

That is so wonderful he got to meet him for sure! That's how my daughters' are. My oldest went to Waite all 4 yrs and graduated from there. However, my middle daughter is a lot different, too loving & caring for the toughness required to go there. So I decided Central was the way to go for her! Even though she finished out the year, she didn't do well and failure is not an option! So this year we are doing homeschooling because I refuse to send her to Woodward (our new district)...

That's too funny you were asked to leave! I tell you one thing I love Scott's band, no matter what parade it is they always bring the best! I get into school marching bands like that :-)

Your middle daughter sounds like my youngest child, she loved Devilbliss and it almost broke her heart when they tore it down. My youngest grandaughter went to Central for a year, and then she transfered to Bowsher, because it was too expensive for her mother to keep up the payments, her father as not been successful in finding gainful employment. Bowsher is a good school, maybe you could get a out of district pass for her to attend Bowsher. My two older children were in the Scott 100 Marching Band, their band instructor came out of a Florida school, and he had them jamming.

Central is in fact VERY expensive. My ex husband suggested Bowsher but I don't have a vehicle right now and he can't be relied upon. I'll play it by ear & pray, pray, pray that God will show us the solution so she can get her education.
