I remember getting up for school and watching this kids show called the Ray Rayner Show on WGN TV. I would eat breakfast, watch cartoons, and I got to watch replays of the Cubs game from the day before.Their was this one player that would walk of the field and click his heels after a win. I didn't watch a lot of baseball but,it's one of those things as a kid that gets embedded in your memory bank.Ron Santo passed away in December 2010 of bladder cancer.Whats so sad is that he never got to enjoy the one thing in longed for year after year of getting that call from the Hall of Fame that he had made it. It became a joke to some radio DJ's get his reaction to not making it.I felt sorry for the guy.He lost both legs to Diabetesa while back.As a sports announcer he was loved by all of Chicago Cub fans.I stopped being a Cubs fan in 1969 when the Cubs blew a 8 game lead in the Central to some team called the "Miracle Mets."The heart ache was too much to bare.I never lost my respect for Mr.Ron Santo and the love he had for the game.If your a fan of baseball have a drink for this Hall of Famer,a guy that really deserved to be in their from the time he walked off the field at the end of his career.Hats off to you Mr.Santo today is your big day you made it.
