Tim Tebow's 'Sexy Jesus' Pose in GQ: Controversial or Just Coincidence?

Everyone knows that New York Jets quarterback Tim Tebow is a devout Christian -- but some say his "Sexy Jesus" pose in the new GQ goes too far. See more sexy shots of Tebow in the video below!



The photo appears with an article entitled, "Have You Accepted Tim Tebow as Your QB and Sunday Savior?" But it's actually an old photo from when Tebow played with the Florida Gators at the University of Florida. Tebow, 25, certainly looks sexy in those skin-tight pants, but the real controversy might lie in the headline rather than the photo. Do you find the pic offensive? Or is Tim Tebow's holy pose just a coincidence?

    And arrogant! Amazing that Christian extremists can get angry about any perceived insult from everybody under the sun, as an attack on Jesus, but this rides? People can't even have a NAME that they perceive as Muslim, Jewish or anything else, without becoming some stupid attack on Christianity and blasphemous. What hypocrites!

    Since he is showing his muscles, and fab abs, and his body lines follow the stadium (probably what the photog was going for) it is a coincidence that it looks cross-ish. But since there is no cross, no nails, not crown, I wouldn't get too wrapped up in a photog trying to make a controversy.

    How do you know it's a "JESUS" pose. Maybe it's the pose of one of the many people who were done that way back then. Huh? Please, the photographer said do this, so he did it. Get over yourselves. The man is smokin, and that's that.

    look at the full photo..you'll see it...have you ever seen a picture depicting Christ on the Cross..his head tipped to the side slumped down (he was dead), legs crossed (to nail his feet) arms stretched to nail his hands? this is an absolute and intentional reference to Jesus Crucified...and the photographer did his/her job very effectively too! I have no problem with it and see no controversy myself, but there is no denying what the photographer was up to!

    The only thing that makes it "controversial" is that he is a self proclaimed Christian and people love to attack Christians and their faith because if you don't have it, you don't understand it so you attack anything that makes you uncomfortable. I for one am glad to see a young athlete behave in a manner that I wouldn't mind my grandchildren mimicking.

    This should not matter. Christians don't have claim to the pose. They don't even have claim on the symbolism, really. It is a religion, a belief. Attempting to remain PC in regards to something that for all intents and purposes is intangible is silly.

    It is very similar to trademarking a one word slogan.. otherwise known as a word. Also silly.
