    Deserve ? In comparison to what Jeter, A.Rod etc... are worth to their respective
    teams , probably. To throw a baseball , hardly.

    No professional athlete in America deserves the obscene amounts they get. If they made the MLB league minimum ($414,000 for the 2011 season) the league MAXIMUM they would still be overpaid. Sports are supposed to be a pastime, a sidelight, something people do for a few years while working in the off season and then when they stop playing they should get a full time job. The idea that by the time they are 25 years old the average Major Leaguer has made more money than the average American makes in a lifetime is a travesty.
