Thieves in Massachusetts made off with $2 million worth of gold, gems and jewels, including a set of Superbowl rings which were made for the New York Giants staffers. The players and coaches have already received their rings.
The rings, made of white gold and set with diamonds, were designed by Tiffany & Co. and are worth approximately $25,000 each.
The circumstances of the robbery are something out of a Hollywood script. The thieves deactivated an alarm system and cut a hole through the roof before stealing a safe that weighed at least 1000 pounds.
My question is this: do these highly paid NFL players really need a $25,000 reward in addition to all the playoff and championship bonuses they make in the course of a Superbowl run? I'm not claiming to be an altruist, but it seems like the money could be better spent.

I think the money could have been better spent always ...but better spent and spent do not always go hand in hand , aside from the title, fame and glory of being the superbowl championship team comes the ring.. now they could make it in a less expensively with less crafting and so forth im guessin deep down those in charge could care less about hungry, homeless people as they do not go to the games nor usually watch them..and yeah I do agree with your point figuring they must be insured they will still get there ring at twice the price.reply - Quintessential Brother The ... 2008/06/11 22:46:02
+1I am a Giants fan hardcore and no they don't need the rings, but that is messed up that they were stolen. It certainly seems like they went thru a lot of trouble to steal them.reply
