The MTV VMAs are Thursday night and one of the most coveted awards that nominees are pining for is "Best New Artist." This award has been around since the first VMAs in 1984, and while a lot of bands have been honored with it, if you look back many of the award recipients are largely... forgettable.

Yahoo! Music brought this to attention and created a slideshow of the biggest "Best New Artist" snubs. Some recent snubs include Taylor Swift, Katy Perry, Miley Cyrus, Rihanna and Chris Brown, all of which went on to sell millions of albums. People say hindsight is always 20/20, but which of these recent snubs is the most surprising?

All of them deserved to be snubbed because they all suck. The biggest snub was when Green Day was snubbed in 94.

I don't think any of them deserve the award in the slightest.

I chose Katy Perry because I find her videos to at least be visually interesting.

Maybe the MTV is trying to regain some dignity by nominating some legit artists. All of these don't have a single thing that deserved to be nominated.

No they aren't. The only two I don't like are Chris Brown and Taylor. The others are awesome. Especially Katy Perry
