Awards season is in full swing and last night they handed out the statue that many performers say matters the most to them — the Screen Actors Guild honors. The night came with some obvious wins. Anne Hathaway took home the Best Actor in a Supporting Role prize for “Les Miserables.” For the third consecutive year, the cast of “Modern Family” was the lauded Ensemble in a Comedy Series. And Danielle Day-Lewis was honored as the best Male Actor in a Leading Role for his portrayal of the title character in “Lincoln.”

But the night was also full of surprises. Neither Tina Fey nor Alec Baldwin was a shoe-in for and acting award for “30 Rock.” Bryan Cranston from “Breaking Bad” stopped the winning spree of “Homeland’s” Damien Lewis in the Male Actor in a Drama Series category. The cast of “Downton Abbey” seemed more shocked than anyone that they beat out “Homeland” for Ensemble in a Drama Series. And Jennifer Lawrence edged out Jessica Chastain for the award for Female Actor in a Leading Role.

Many believe that “Argo’s” Cast in a Motion Picture nod coupled with the films sweet at the Critic’s Choice, Golden Globe and Producer’s Guild ceremonies is an indication that the film will take home the top prize at the Academy Awards in February. Who knows, maybe there will even be an uprising to break the ban and allow a write-in vote for Ben Affleck for Best Director. It would be a bombshell even bigger than those seen last night. In what universe is Jennifer Lawrence winning the award for Silver Linings Playbook a surprise? She's already won a bunch of critics awards, a Golden Globe, and has been considered the frontrunner in the Oscar race since the movie was first shown.

I voted for Bryan Cranston not because I think it was all that surprising that he would win, but because Damien Lewis has lately been winning awards over him.

Oh, well, she's just been nominated twice for an Oscar in three years, won a Golden Globe and a bunch of critics awards for Silver Lining Playbook (a movie that has been given nominations in each of the major Oscar caregories), in addition to headlining a multi-million dollar franchise, playing one of the greatest heroines of recent fiction. Nobody you should have heard of, obviously...

Have you been on the planet the last two years? Jennifer Lawrence is probably the biggest Hollywood "it" girl right now. The Hunger Games?? Does that ring a bell???? Yes, Silver Lihnings Playbook was a low budget film, but if you follow awards shows even in the slightest, you must have heard of it. It's up for like 8 oscars, just to lyk. But, don't know j-law?? Wow!

Oh yes she is such a terrible actress that she has been nominated for an Oscar twice. Maybe you should watch Silver Linings Playbook or the Poker House or Winter's Bone because she was awesome in those movies
