Today was the day. Super Bowl XLVII. When the Ravens and Niners finally went head-to-head on the gridiron at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana. And on the sidelines brothers and opposing coaches, John and Jim Harbaugh, each hoped to lead his team to victory. In the end, older brother John led the Ravens to victory 34 to 31 but the battle will most likely go down as one of the most exciting Super Bowls in history.

After putting up a touchdown on their first drive, the Ravens took an early lead. The 49ers scored a field goal in the first quarter but Joe Flacco threw two more TD passes in the second quarter including a spectacular play by Jacoby Jones that put the Ravens on top 21 to 3. It was Jones’ night as he started the third quarter with an 11-second, 109-yard kickoff return.
But a bizarre power outage slowed down the Ravens’ momentum and when the lights came back on, the 49ers scored two touchdowns. Although San Francisco looked like they might just steal the game with minutes to spare, they just couldn’t pull it together in the clinch.
This was only the second time the Ravens made it to the big game and it’s their second win. Odds are it will also be the topic of conversation at Harbaugh holiday dinners for years to come. What do you think: Are you happy with the outcome?
Again, I have never seen Ray Lewis start a fight or take a cheap shot at any player. I know some hard hits get viewed by fans of the team receiving the hard hit as a cheap shot but that does not mean that it is.
OK.....unnecessary roughness does not make one dirty player. SOmetimes things jst happen on the field because things happen fast. Go read some stories of the 70's Steelers and Raiders and then come back to me and tell me how Ray Rice, or any player on the Ravens, is a dirty player.
How about the no call interference that cost Torry Smith a TD in the first quarter? How about the late hit on Joe Flacco out of bounds that did not get called that may have extended a 4th quarter drive? How about that odd power outage?
