It's Gorge's project, I'm so sick of hearing people bitch about the prequels as if they owned the damned franchis! Mr. Lucas is the man who dreamed the whole thing up and made it happen, who are we to tell him how his own damn story is to be told?
On that note, from a story-teller's point of veiw, The prequels awnsered a lot of questions that the origenal trilogy faled to addresss, looping the whole thing into a Solid epic story and even expanding that universe to unimagible scale.....And all I hear is the purests bitch and bitch; missing the whole point of Star Wars.
25 sir to be exact. I have been a fan of Star Wars before the prequels (I.E. the early 90s). During that time I always wondered just what happened to Anakin, who was Luke's and Leia's mother, Why were the jedi all but dead, what were the clone wars, and how did the empire came to be. All those questions were answered. I can't see how and why people thought the prequels were the biggest mistakes in the Star Wars universe, Unless they are so "purists" they won't let it grow, evolve and expand, being stuck in the "so-called" glory days when the whole thing was just a novelty.
If I created something like that, worked my ass off, put my heart and soul into a story that was once well received, then a few years later deside to explore the orgeins of my characters, only to have the purist fans shoot it down like a bad fanfiction...well you get the point ( I hope).
How bout you? your what, 36? When the first one came out I can imagane you were hardly in the know, and Return of the Jedi: 7 give or take?
Dude I saw the original in the theater in it's 1979 re-release! And STAR WARS was the first movie I remember seeing in the theater and at that time. My dad ran the theater so I got to watch it over and over again. I saw EMPIRE STRIKES BACK in 1980' and in it's 1982' re-release. I saw RETURN OF THE JEDI in 83 and in it's 85' re-release. Yes, I am 36 and I remember it well! It's easier for you to be objective about it. Because you weren't there.
Go back and look at the PHANTOM MENACE again. Sit through the entire thing. And then come back and tell me it still holds up really well after all these years.
I think it does. No more and no less then the originals.
That's why I voted for all the above: I'm intrested in the whole story from start to finish, not just midway and then done and trying to guess what happened in the beginning.
