The New York Knicks started the 2012-2013 NBA season with a 7-1 record in their first eight games. It's the team's best start in well over a decade. During the offseason, many basketball pundits couldn't have seen the Knicks as anything other than a mid-level playoff team at the best, following a number of controversial moves, including allowing popular star Jeremy Lin to walk away and sign with Houston.
The Knicks also made some fans scratch their heads after signing aged, past-their-prime veterans in former NBA Champions Jason Kidd and Rasheed Wallace. On top of all that, the team promoted Mike Woodson from interim to head coach and while he did a very good job following Mike D'Antoni's exit last season, his previous tenure with the Atlanta Hawks left a lot to be desired.
However, it's been "so far, so good" for the Knicks, who have scored a ton of points in their wins and have displayed a great defensive game, which they weren't always known for. Even top star Carmelo Anthony is getting better on the defensive end and that's always been his biggest weakness. The Knicks may not be at the very top of the Eastern Conference come the spring, but fans have to be encouraged by what they see — especially in the absence of Amar'e Stoudemire.

- wamcalif 2012/11/27 04:39:59YesSo the Nets win the first one in "their house". That's okay, and the way it should be. It was a great game. We now have a bonafide, same town rivalry (Brooklynites might disagree they are in the same town). Too bad Jason Kidd could not make the game. It was good to see veterans, Stackhouse and Rasheed Wallace playing well. Two well matched teams with a lot of talent. It's about damn time too...Stoudemire may have to ride the bench for awhile.reply

- Timu 2012/11/20 20:02:27NoI do not think they are real. It is too early to say that. You will see when Stoudemire steps in the court, they will start to lose. Melo is an amazing player but not as stable as other stars.reply

- unclepat 2012/11/18 21:47:40Yes+1Damn right they are. It's still a long season but for now management has surrounded Melo with a buch of solid veterans. Bringing back PG Felton was a good move in addition to admitting that they were wrong to move him in the first place. Top four seed in the East at least and a definite threat to Miami. GO KNICKS!!reply
- In Love With Liberty 2012/11/18 21:23:10Yes+1But I think the Grizzlies have had a more impressive startreply
