First of all, their apologies need to be in person and coming from them, not their parents.
They need to look her in the face and recognize what they have done. The school needs to take its part in their discipline.
I still think they should do service for her and for the community. The intention of this should be that they become better, giving, loving compassionate men. They really messed up, but if this is handled with love and concern for all of them, this could be the situation that shapes the rest of their lives in a positive direction.

These kids should learn some RESPECT for everyone and everything. The "Golden Rule" should be taught first at home, then re-enforced at home. If the parents will not teach them maybe they can learn from school, then they can teach their parents. Personally if this was either of my children, I would take them to the police station and demand for them to let them stay in jail a couple of days and learn that fire does burn and it is hot. These children should be suspended for the rest of the school year or be made to go to a school for this kind of disrespect or behavior. If these kids do not learn every action has a REACTION now they could end up behind bars one day! Would they treat their Mothers or Grandmothers this way? Do they want someone else to treat their Mothers or Grandmothers or anybody else they care for like this? They should have to write a very heartfelt apology to this lady too!
