'The Hunger Games: Catching Fire' casting rumors: Who would make the best Finnick?

Not unlike Catching Fire’s Finnick Odair, Lionsgate’s
casting department is aiming carefully with its net. For the role of the
endearingly arrogant tribute in the upcoming The Hunger Games sequel, they’re searching for a tall, good-looking, Caucasian male actor in his late 20s to early 30s.
I know what you’re thinking, because I thought the same thing at
first: “How will they ever find someone in Hollywood who matches that
description?” But according to a recent report, the studio has tracked down not just one but three actors who possess all those qualities: Garrett Hedlund, Armie Hammer, and Taylor Kitsch. The
report also mentions that the role could still go to an unknown, but
for now we’ll stick to speculating about these three. All of them
fulfill the role’s first requirement: being good at not wearing a shirt.
So the second — being able to play a character with a personality — may
end up the deciding factor. Hedlund hasn’t been seen since he gave what
critics called “a performance” in TRON: Legacy, but he’s got a few projects coming up, including On the Road
in which he plays the charismatic Dean Moriarty. While the film
received mixed reviews at Cannes, if Hedlund can hold his own as one of
American literature’s indelible characters, then he might be a decent
choice for this more delible character.
Armie Hammer (who will next star in The Lone Ranger opposite
sidekick-slash-actual-star Johnny Depp) seems to me a tad too patrician
for the role, and while Taylor Kitsch might be familiar with what it’s
like to undergo a traumatic ordeal — if you think being forced into a
televised battle to the death is bad, try starring in John Carter and Battleship back-to-back — I just don’t quite see him as a good fit.
What do you guys think? Do any of these names jump out at you as a
good Finnick? (Yes, we know we asked you this same question only two months ago. We like our records to be up-to-date.)
