Stephen Colbert is not one to stay mum about... well, anything. But his parody show, the "Colbert Report" has suspended production on Comedy Central and will be airing reruns for the rest of the week, the network confirms. And people are wondering why. In fact, Comedy Central is staying pretty hush-hush about the suspension as well, saying in a statement: “Due to unforeseen circumstances, the show will air repeat episodes on Wednesday, February 15 and Thursday, February 16.”
Some sources told the New York Daily News that host Stephen Colbert had a family emergency to take care of, but that's not been confirmed. Whatever the reason, it is a bit eery to witness such inaction from Colbert himself. Even Colbert's normally vibrant Twitter account hasn't been updated since February 14. Will you miss the "Colbert Report" during its suspension? Do you even watch the show?

...and for the record I've witnessed people who didn't "drop everything" and run to their relatives side when they were allegedly on their "death bed". Sometimes the family member was and died without the respective family member there and sometimes it was just a pretty rugged bump in the road that the sick family member eventually managed to get past and live to die another day.
Either way, those who do drop what they're doing and go to their sick relatives side when that relative is gravely ill/injured SHOULD be commended. Unlike what you suggest, it doesn't happen all of the time.
You can't paint the world with the same broad brush... families have their quirks too.
For someone to deliberately "dis" his mother if she were near death - now that would be noteworthy. (in the negative, of course)
how does that make you feel?
Re: his mother... Here's hoping all goes well for her and the Colbert family.
And that is a survey by the PEW Research Center.
And it's not one lone study. Years ago Bill O'Reilly made a crack about the Daily Show fans being a bunch of stoned slackers. Comedy Central shot back with all sorts of demographics showing average viewers to be well educated and gainfully employed (more so than his viewers).
Sounds like a lot of conservatives are pissed there is a quality and funny left-leaning satire show out there and they don't have one. They've tried. Remember the 1/2 Hour news Hour? It kind of fell on its face. I'm not saying conservatives cannot be funny. There are SOME funny conservatives. I'm just saying they haven't done AS GOOD of a job as liberals up to this point at political humor. Pictures of President Obama as the Joker just isn't that funny.
Maybe he had to lay low.
1. Cannot find him funny.
2. Think it's fine that he may be suffering a family tragedy.
Yep, that's your typical heartless Right-winger for ya! Congrats!
