After years and years of complaining for various schools, fans, and coaches, the Bowl Championship Series will be no more in college football. The presidential oversight committee of college football has agreed to do away with the BCS in 2014 and will institute a four-team playoff.
"A four-team playoff doesn't go too far; it goes just the right amount," said Virginia Tech president Charles Sterger, chair of the presidential oversight committee, according to ESPN.com. "We are very pleased with this arrangement even though some issues & remain to be finalized." We're sure most college football fans will be quite pleased as well.

A selection committee will select the four teams in the playoffs, most likely with the best overall records, especially against top NCAA competition. Sites for current bowl games can and will be used for the semifinals. The four-team playoff concept is in effect from 2014 to 2025.

Mathematicians laughed at the BCS "formulas". Only one of the several formulas was actually "known" to the public and that formula was shown to have miscalculated on a number of occasions. And of course you had numerous other equations that even the people running the BCS didn't know how they worked. Thats a joke.
This is a great start. Top four teams picked by a selection committee.
What I'd like to see eventually is for college football to whittle down to 4-6 conferences with 12-16 teams in each. Playoffs would start with those conference champions and then you take those and add a few "wild cards" to get up to 8 total teams.
But this 4 team set up is better than the BCS as it is.
Does this mean no more Rose Bowl? or Suger Bowl? or Cotton Bowl?
