She may not be Esquire's "Sexiest Woman Alive" (that title went to Rihanna), but Taylor Swift recently got a nod of her very own...and it's not a bad one at all. Billboard magazine picked the 21-year-old country singer as their "Woman of the Year." Whoa. That's some title -- and one shared with stars like Beyonce, Reba McEntire and Fergie in the past.

Swift is apparently the youngest celeb to be given the name, which isn't a first for the award-winning country singer. She was also the youngest person to win a Grammy for "Best Album" last year (for her "Fearless" album) and has accumulated countless other awards and nominations from awards shows like the Country Music Awards, the Academy of Country Music and the American Music Awards.

She may be young, but Taylor Swift has really proven herself over the last few years. In addition to all these crazy nominations, her latest album, "Speak Now," has sold more than 3.5 million copies so far and she's also sold the most albums compared to any other artist over the past year.

We don't even like country music, but you go girl! Swift will be honored at the 2011 Billboard Women in Music event on Dec. 2 in New York. Do you think Taylor Swift deserves to be Billboard's "Woman of the Year"?

I say no, but just so you know I love Taylor Swift. I am a fan, and I went to her concert this summer and loved it. But I don't hear so much about her anymore. Maybe it is because I don't follow country music except her music, but I feel like I hear more of Lady Gaga or even Kelly Clarkson recently.

Yes

I think she's a strong and independent woman who is a good role model. Sure, she probably bashes all her ex's in all of her songs, but a lot of girls can hear them and relate to them because they've probably gone through something similar and it makes them feel better to know they're not alone.Also, I don't think I've ever read anything too bad about about her (you know, like doing drugs, scandalous pictures, that sort of thing).

She deserves it 100%... I could not find any other woman artist who can top what she has done for the past 12 months. Besides, she's not only a great artist. She's also a great role model to every woman of all ages. And most of all, she gives back by donating to the less fortunate.

Taylor Swift is my role model. She's not into sex, drugs, and alcohol (at least not from what we see) and she's a good hearted, talented young woman. Don't tell me her music sounds the same when you've never taken the time to listen to more than what's played on the radio. You can be in love at any age in life, you don't out grow it. And you can have problems with men at any age in life. It's never too late to write a song about it. She is beautiful and down to earth and she truly cares about the people who take the time out of their day to care about her, especially her fans, whom you can tell she is really and truly grateful for. Love you Taylor ♥

She is one of a very few singers who can write music that is appropriate for all ages and be an amazing role model.. and she doesn't have to be really weird to get attention like some others (lady googoo)

You may not like her at all, but please give her a little respect. She did not ask for this award. It was given to her by the same people who gave the same honor to Reba McEntire, Beyonce, among others. And she has the numbers to prove that she deserves it.

Let's face it. Artists today that actually make it onto the Billboard Charts are crap compared to Springsteen, Joel, Adams, Mellencamp, Blondie, The Donnas, The Rolling Stones, The Doors, The Eagles, and the Beach Boys. And to be fair she is one of the only Country singers that I can listen to for more than 3 seconds without wanting to go into the middle of the ghetto and say a particular word so that I'll be killed.

Boring pick. Her overplaying of songs on the radio is the reason why so many people are switching to XM radio and things like Pandora.

(Pandora is free and you can thumbs down a song & it will never play it again so you don't have to listen to boring, whiny, wanna-be adult little girls attempt to sing all day... Make the change.)

Maybe if you tried listening to some of her other music?? Not just the stuff on the radio. We all know when music is overplayed it gets annoying. Listen to her other stuff, I find it a lot better. And btw, Woman of the Year isn't based solely on how good her music is. She's truly a good person.

She may not be the best vocalist (her crossroads with def leppard was awful), but she writes her own music and that is a plus in my book. Rhianna may be the "sexiest woman alive", but she doesn't write her music so she has a gift, but isn't that talented?? I don't know, who should have gotten it is what I would ask on top of this question.

Little talent??? I bet you have more talent than her... Like you can write your own songs, play multiple instruments, direct your own tour, lead a corporation, sell 20 million albums, win important awards and keep your head on straight with all these accomplishments. it just puzzles me that they would pick a singer that's in her early 20s but still sings songs about princes, princesses, castles, puppy dogs, butterflies and rainbows as woman of the year. smh
