T-Pain Releases ‘Stripper’ Anthem: Do Songs Like These Empower or Objectify Women?

T-Pain is never one to shy away from his affinity towards strippers -- hence his massive hit "I'm 'n Luv (Wit A Stripper)" -- and this week he released another ode to exotic dancers titled "Don't You Quit."

T-Pain calls the single an anthem and wants it to be "motivation" for strippers everywhere. Some motivating lyrics include "Put that booty on Instagram," "Don't you quit, let a brother see what you workin' with" and "Swear to God I'm gonna hurt that." Not all rap and hip-hop is the same, but are songs like this one actually motivating and empowering for women, like T-Pain claims? Or is it objectifying and maybe even dehumanizing?

MUSIC.YAHOO.COM reports:
"I'm 'n Luv (Wit A Stripper)" singer, rapper and producer T-Pain has another anthem for the ladies who stack crisp and clean $1 bills. On Wednesday, he premieres with Yahoo! Music his new song, "Don't You Quit."

It is disgusting :( I hate when guys come to me quoting songs that objectify me. I think you shouldn't be able to put those sort of songs on the radio, it degrades women.

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say objectify. I've never heard this song, but then I've never heard any rap artist which 'empowered' women.

Just call it a safe bet. :-)

I don't have a problem with strippers at all, most women have to do that to pay for college and things like that & I would to if I had no choice. It's just that most men always assume that a woman is a whore if she's a stripper and that is not true at all. Some people have to sacrifice and there are women out there who need to pay for college and have kids to support so they have to do that and that's completely okay in my book :-)

There should be a "neither" option; a song cant make a woman into an object. She can choose whether to let herself be objectified or not,

Rap lyrics talk about hoes. They mean ALL women. It doesn't matter whether the lady is a teacher or doctor, she is a hoe, in a rappers eyes, just used for sex. A female doctor doesn't allow herself to be objectified, does she?

Do we really need an anthem?? He needs to listen to Lupe Fiasco's song "bitch bad"--tells the lesson of what our children are learning by hearing songs like this one. Of course mainstream commercial radio & record companies love this crap. It's slowly but surely dumbing down our youth.
