Penn State football fans now have less to cheer about this season. Graham Watson of Yahoo! Sports writes, "Sweet Caroline," which is a big fan participation song during games, is being cut because of the lyrics, more specifically the line "touching me, touching you."

Penn State made this decision in reaction to the conviction of Jerry Sandusky, the assistant coach
who sexually abused children.

Penn State received heavy sanctions from the NCAA and several players transferred out of the football program.

SPORTS.YAHOO.COM reports:
Don't expect to hear Neil Diamond's hit "Sweet Caroline" at Penn State football games this season. According to Cory Geiger, a writer for the Altoona Mirror, the song has been cut from the rotation along with several other tunes...

I'd say it's an overreaction and not appropriate. Man it's only a song and a very popular one. It also has nothing to do with young boys.

...but then again we do live in a stupid "PC" country. The people in the stadium, the players, the current coaching staff...they haven't done anything wrong. "Can't we all just get along."

"Sweet Caroline" is a pop song written and performed by Neil Diamond and officially released on September 16, 1969, Diamond revealed the inspiration for "Sweet Caroline" was President John F. Kennedy's daughter, Caroline Kennedy, who was eleven years old at the time. Because Hitler liked certain composers, does that mean we should ban them too. I think it is dangerous precedent.

This brings to mind the extreme islamic view that holds if a man sees a woman's leg or arm, he's has no choice but to lose control and rape her.

Life is oversexed as it is, and with the issues still going on there today with what happened...hmm. They probably think it will remind people of what happened.

OMG!OMG! Enough is enough! It was Jerry Sandusky that did the things he did not the football team or fans. Does anyone really think that the song provoked him? PLEASE! He did the crimes yet everyone else is paying for it. I am so confused with society right now.

BULL CRAP. That's like saying that the song caused Jerry Sandusky to
be a sexual abuser. In that case, we've all heard & sang that song & not
everyone is a predator. The song does not refer to what he did but to a
normal healthy relationship. I don't think they should have taken the statue
down either. Good or bad, it was a part of the school's history. Taking it
down & not allowing the song doesn't change anything just looks like they
think that everything can be swept under the rug. It might have been better
to have left it there as a reminder to kids to not ever let anyone touch them
inappropriately. And I'd like to know why the school has to suffer the punishment
for what a few of the leaders did. That certainly is not fair to the school. Those
kids worked hard to acheive their goals only to have them taken away because
of a few horrible people. They have had enough to deal with and should not
    be punished anymore.

The whole thing is sad , one man has hurt so many people and led to the death of a great coach , poor Joe got caught up in more than he could handle . Joe was wrong here , but 99.9% of his life was better than most and made many great impacts on other's lives.
