As a fan of penn state i am very saddened to hear all of the news about them. The NCAA are punishing the wrong group.The football team werent the people who raped the children. then why are they getting punished

It's just too stupid. Sure it involves lyrics about touching a woman, but it includes nothing about children (I think. I've only heard a couple of the lyrics at ball games, but people are so loud I couldn't hear some of them). They are basically crushing a good song. The composer didn't even intentionally do that on purpose.

They're overreacting yes, but, I do understand where they're coming from. Neil Diamond wrote this song for and about Caroline Kennedy, who was 11 at the time. And after what happenes with Jerry, I can understand that this song would rub school officials the wrong way. However, this is completely stupid and really isn't that big of a deal.

While I can see why they'd not want to draw attention to lyrics that might cause the little league to be reminded of the traumatic event, doing something as drastic as stopping an years long tradition only draws more attention to the whole ordeal and could make the victims feel like they're causing an awkward inconvenience.

It's about a man touching a woman. This is perhaps not the best thing to sing with children anyway, but it's not about queer molestation of children!

On a side note, I feel that almost everything done at and to Penn State lately has been an overreaction. The whole school has been punished for one man's sins. If I played for Penn State during the time that got nullified, I would be furious that my accomplishments were nullified. If the coach is guilty, punish him. Don't punish the guys who busted their butts to win games.

Well, to be honest, its basically the whole culture that's affected. They did that simply because the culture is terrible as it is so by doing this they get rid of the old ways of thinking

Remarkable over-reaction to all of this, especially by the NCAA, and I fault Penn State for not fighting the outrageous sanctions for something that, although serious, had nothing to do with football or the outcome of games.

So what are they going to do, ban any song that has kissing you, touching you , hugging you , loving you. looking at you, wishing I was with you, wanting you, dreaming about you, or feeling you? That pretty much eliminates just about any song out there, except the Star Spangled Banner.
