Suri Cruise, darling daughter of Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes, has been photographed doing what kids do best at this time of year: Having a temper tantrum in a toy store. It’s unclear what upset Suri, but calm was soon restored, and the 5-year-old picked out goods from the famous FAO Schwarz toy store in New York City. The family was on a shopping trip while Daddy Cruise was in New York to promote his latest movie, “Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol.” According to a recent report, Suri’s #1 wish for Christmas is for Santa to bring her a pony.

IS THIS JUST TYPICAL CHILD BEHAVIOR, OR IS SURI A SPOILED BRAT? (Before answering, please keep in mind that Suri Cruise already wears makeup, dresses in expensive designer clothing, and has been seen about town wearing high heels.)

If I did this. My mom would have whipped my butt right there in front of everybody.

EXACTLY! When my siblings and I were youngsters, if we had thrown a hissy fit in a store, we would have gotten our hides tanned, right there in front of God and everyone. My mom did NOT mess around! She meant BUSINESS! Thanks for your response, Raphy!

yeah but now a days they call it child abuse to spank a child, and everybody wants to call the police, but I think it's child abuse to let them get away with Tantrums

That's true. However, I think Suri Cruise is an extremely spoiled little girl. In fact, just a few days ago, she threw a hissy fit in public because mom Katie Holmes wouldn't buy her the puppy she wanted. Maybe Katie's trying to put her foot down now that Suri's getting older, but once a child is used to getting her way, it's hard to say "NO." Thanks for your response, Krystle!

How can this little girl possibly have a normal childhood when she's constantly being stalked and photographed in secret and her behaviour commented on by spiteful adults who should know better and start doing some growing up of their own. I've raised 4 kids and let me just say this, kids
throw tantrums for a myriad of reasons. How do you know she wasn't tired? Or over wrought? What is also of concern is the fact that these paparazzi are actually allowed to stalk and secretly photograph a small child. Where i come from people who do this are called perverts. Leave the poor mite alone and look to your own lives. Hateful comments directed at a small child by anonymous people who don't even know her just show the true nature of the person making them.

Judging from the facts, which are scant, I'd say maybe some of both. And I'd have to say I've never discovered the difference between spoiled and well loved. People I love I spoil within my means to do so. But of course I'm sure when people say spoiled they mean overly spoiled, or constantly given their way. But since the facts don't say how calm was so soon restored, I'm for giving Suri the benefit of a doubt. After all, no mention is made that she quieted down after getting her way. Also 5 is still mighty young for the best display of certain values: Sharing. Good manners, publicly as well as privately. Gratitude for your station in life---with the full knowledge that no one gets all of what they might like to have in life, and to be happy if you have all of what you need and at least some of what you want. That you can ask something unreasonable and you won't get it.(Which has only some to do with money.) ___And so far as the makeup, clothing, and shoes go, she's probably trying to imitate mommy. What 5 year old girl doesn't? The makeup is a bit over the top for me, I didn't allow my daughter to start until 12+13. And she didn't wear heels in public. Dressed in some of the best clothes her parents can afford. Good for her, better if she learns more of these good values as she grows.___Oops, almost forgot the pony. What father that could, wouldn't get his 5 yr. old a pony to ride while holding her fathers hand the first time. So long as the child displays enough sense of responsibility and good behavior.

o give it up, we've all done this as kids and even experienced it with our own kids, so all of you need to grow up!!! Just deal people! This is not the childs fault or the parents, its a way of life! Its part of being a kid, so if you dont agree with me, then you are just a LIAR!!

All five year old's sometimes have melt downs. Just not all are in the spotlight like Suri. What is much more important is how the parents handled the melt down. Did they give in and give her what she wanted or did they remove her immediately from the store?

From what I've heard, Suri wasn't punished by her parents for throwing a hissy fit in FAO Schwartz. I'm not sure whether or not they bought toys for her during this shopping trip, but I'd venture to guess that they did cave into her desires and give her what she wanted. I don't there's much discipline in the Cruise household. Thanks for your comments, Melicious!

Either could apply. If it is done all the time, then she is spoiled, but all children have an occasional meltdown.

IMO, a five-year-old little girl who is permitted to wear makeup and high heels is spoiled. Hell, I wasn't allowed to do any of that stuff until I was 16, and even THEN, I had to beg my parents! Kids grow up too fast as it is. Thanks for your comments, Steve. I hope you and the critters are well, and I wish you and yours a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! Have a very safe and joyous holiday season, my friend!

All kids throw temper tantrums. Till they learn to control themselves expect those temper tantrums to fly.
My 3 year old grandson has at least one or two a day. Doesn't mean he gets what he's throwing a tantrum over.
