Streaking During Baseball Game: Funny or Foul?

Yikes! There was a streaker on the baseball field the other night during the Philadelphia Phillies-St. Louis Cardinals game. A man went streaking during the Phillies-Cardinals game and may have given many children nightmares that evening. It's been awhile since we've heard about any streakers in the states, but internationally, there's been quite a few during soccer games.

Sure, it's funny in an “Oh my gosh” sort of way, but it's also against the law and that streaker could be facing some legal consequences. There was most likely a ton of kids in the audience. Many of those kids are young and just trying to enjoy the game with their parents -- only to discover a naked dude running around. Most likely, it wasn't a pleasant sight for Phillies and Cardinals players either. Is streaking a funny thing to see once in a while for goofball entertainment or is it just plain inappropriate and something that shouldn't be done at any sports event? Let us know!

Even if I was with my kids, I would have to point and laugh at the funny naked man. C'mon folks. The purpose of streaking is to remind us that life doesn't have to be so serious all the time. Even if...OMG LOOK ITS A NAKED RUNNING MAN HAHAHAHAHA!

Kids already grow up too fast, they don't need to continually be exposed to sexuality at social events or in the schools. There is already too much of that in TV programing and movies.

It really would only be sexuality if he had a boner or something. A plain, flaccid penis or floppy tits isn't going to harm kids. S'natural body imagery. In fact, that'd probably help kids not see them as wholly sexual parts.

And why is sex even bad? That's literally our primary body function- S'gonna happen whether or not people approve of it because we're programmed to do/want it.

But, say sex and sexuality IS bad... somehow.

I mean, they have OTHER ACTIONS BESIDES SEX, YOU KNOW. Or have you gotten this far in your life and not realized that yet?

Nothing is wrong with sex in its place....the bedroom or desired private location, but its place is certainly not at a public event like a baseball game. Go streak in front of your wife or girl friend and leave the children out of it.

Yeah, and sometimes when I look in the mirror, I accidentally glance at my own genitals and go into shock. I've been to the hospital eight times!!

It's both funny and foul. I don't want to see it but it's not going to ruin my day if I do. Most kids know what a penis is. I'm sure it's not that a big deal for them to see a naked guy. A guy running around a field naked isn't exactly sexual or perverted even if it is "foul" so it's not like kids were mentally molested by seeing it.

There's nothing wrong with the human body. There are too many wannabe puritans in America. Streaking is great because it challenges the social norm that the body is evil and wrong.

Oh NO! The sight of the naked human form! However will we sleep at night? It's only funny because of people's reactions. You know if we weren't so freaked out by the sight of a naked person, streaking would not happen. But a bunch of adults acting like preteens when someone says "penis" is just the kind of capitive audience this behavior thrives on.

Streaking, in 99% of cases where it is done, is ALWAYS funny.

Streaking is done to be funny. It's done in a moment where everyone is allowed to crack and smile and point and laugh. I don't think there should be laws against streaking-- free country, right? And in all honesty, it's really not *that* traumatizing. In fact, in my experience, it's only as traumatizing as the adults make it seem-- that is to say, the kids aren't freaking out until the parents start acting as though they SHOULD.

This stuff is totally harmless, and the only reason people have a problem is because they've either been taught this is wrong and therefore should not take enjoyment in this, or they're prudes with a stick up their arse. You can always shut your eyes and look away, you know.

In short, it's no big deal, and people should appreciate those who take time out of their day to toss dignity aside and do something crazy once in awhile.

Yes, actually, it is. It has nothing to do with narcissism. It's meant to be funny, and the only reason it's an inconvenience is because people (like you) are unreasonably stuck-up about it. It would be rude to streak in the middle of an ongoing game, but during a break or halftime, it's fine. Because seriously, it's meant to get people to lighten up, and if you can't see that, you need to send your humerus in for a replacement.

Ugh, another internet therapist overusing the word narcissistic. Really, is this the word of 2012? I think in 2011 it was Bi-Polar disorder and people from 2011 probably would've said he was on a Bi-Polar high because they do crazy things when high on their own body chemistry.

Someone doesn't have to have a mental disorder or even be drunk to do something stupid and crazy.

If there weren't laws though people would be doing it more often and in more places and it would just get sickening at that point. I don't care about streaking but I don't agree with not having laws against it. I don't think someone should actually be jailed for it or get a criminial record for it. Pay a fine and end of story.

I agree. I just think it should be a lesser offense-- more like "causing a public disturbance", really. Get a fine for doing so, end of story. But jailtime is ridiculous.
