Stone Temple Pilots fans will be perplexed and disappointed to learn that lead singer Scott Weiland has been fired from the band. The news was announced Tuesday morning via a one-sentence press release that stated that Weiland was "officially terminated."
After reading about his firing, Weiland released a statement claiming "Not sure how I can be 'terminated' from a band that I founded, fronted and co-wrote many of its biggest hits, but that's something for the lawyers to figure out." You can read the whole thing here.
Strangely enough, rumors had been circulating recently about the singer's short-lived future with STP, but on Tuesday, Weiland told Rolling Stone,"No one has been fired and I haven't quit. That's all hearsay."
Looks like that was just a case of wishful thinking, but what do you think, SodaHeads? Can Stone Temple Pilots survive without Scott Weiland? To make matters worse, Weiland had already booked a solo tour starting next month, during which he plans to play mostly STP songs, so if they get a new lead singer, the band will have to compete with him.

The guy has been given more than enough chances, it was time to move in a new direction.
"Scott! You're Fired!"
It would be like Pearl jam without Eddie Vedder or Nirvana without Kurt Cobain.
Just move on most bands go through this. If they want to stay in the game . Go out with a new name and reinvent yourselves.
whatever the reason is... most bands don't last a long time and most bands don't find the success that they've found. they should count their blessings and feel proud of what they've accomplished and agree to disagree and wave goodbye to STP.
Take the band "I Am Ghost" for example: What really made them stand out was their female violinist and occasional singer. Without her, the band's last album did poorly, becoming just another generic sounding band, and the band was finished.
