Well, that didn't take long... Just a week after David Letterman announced he would be retiring next year, the famous face who will replace him on "Late Show" has already been confirmed: Stephen Colbert.

"Stephen Colbert is one of the most inventive and respected forces on television," CBS Chairman and CEO Les Moonves said in a statement Thursday. "David Letterman's legacy and accomplishments are an incredible source of pride for all of us here, and today's announcement speaks to our commitment of upholding what he established for CBS in late night."

What do you think of "The Colbert Report" host succeeding Letterman on CBS' "Late Show"? Is Stephen Colbert a good pick? Or do you wish another famous face would pick up where Letterman will leave off?

Replacing one old liberal douche-bag with a slightly younger liberal douche-bag. Nothing new really.

Glad Letterman is leaving, but wish the replacement wasn't so biased. Tired of Letterman mostly ripping only one side. I am not a member of either party, but still bothersome to see so much bias.

I could never take more than a couple minutes of the Colbert report, so, the idea that he's hiding some wonderful comedic abilities is silly. The Colbert report is him, just slanted toward being a f*cked in the head republican. I didn't get it. It was a chore to watch. But on the up side, he's still a hundred times better than the super annoying Craig Ferguson, so, atleast that didn't happen. But late night is officially dead tho after Dave's gone, imo.

CRAIG FERGUSEN should be given a shot @ this slot~~
This was a done deal WAY TOO FAST compared to all the other deals on late night~~ this was in negotiations way before the announcement~~

I think I've heard Fergusen say he preferred his showtime and format. I for one like late late show, and Craig.

the only better choice would be someone who would make Rush Limbaugh's (and the Conservatives in general) head(s) literally explode, instead of just figuratively

i'm glad people like Rush are distressed by the choice... tolerate that lol

i love how you" tolerate" different points of view. i respect liberals even though i disagree. why do you have so much disrespect??? its free speech. deal with it.

i have no reason to tolerate the intolerable... i also have no reason to respect those who are in the habit of disrespecting me... it is free speech, and so is what I have to say in response... tolerate that lol

I'd rather see Ferguson~ he is a real comic without always depending on left wing politics~ He stays in the middle and does not take side except for occasionally~

actually your replies show your mentality, I did not say late night comedy shows are propaganda, but ALL Network programming to include such programs. even many cable programs are packed with propaganda.

I'll miss the character he played greatly, but things like that aren't going to live forever. I suppose it's time to move on. As sad as I am to see the old "Stephen Colbert" go, it will be good to see the new Stephen Colbert at work. Also it seems to have annoyed Rush Limbaugh which is always a plus.

I lost interest in Letterman long ago when he got so whiny over losing the tonight show to Leno.
Colbert seems like a strange choice but maybe he will appeal to letterman's viewers.
