Spotify has released its list of the “Top 100 Most Popular Tracks of 2012,” with Gotye’s “Somebody That I Used to Know” topping the list. Here are the top ten:

10. Loreen — "Euphoria"

Jezebel’s Laura Beck was outraged with the results. She wrote, “Goyte's ‘Somebody That I Used to Know’ absconded with Pop Princess Carly Rae Jepsen's Rightful Crown on Spotify's Top 100 Most Popular Tracks of the Year list. Unacceptable!” However, she did admit to being “guilty of loving every single one of these songs.”

I liked it when triple J was playing it then the commercial networks killed it like they kill any good song, by playing it every hour.

it truly is a tough choice cuz i like the majority of the songs, but i'd be lying if i didn't burst into song every time "call me maybe" came on. it was the first overplayed song that didn't annoy me every time i heard it. props carly rae, u won me. lol

I chose the only one I know. I stopped listening to the radio a long time ago, I don't watch TV either and I have something called personal taste in music (I don't need some list to tell me what songs I should listen to).

All of the list sucks.....badly. This is the only half decent song...and even it's not that great.

Even so....how I wonder how spotify managed to screw up so badly...and forget...

I'm not terribly a fan of the song, it is catchy, but I do like the music video. He's completly ridiculous. The fact that this video is so unserious and funny is what makes it good.

None of them are actually my FAVORITE, but I guess Gotye is okay. I'm more into Daft Punk, Arctic Monkeys, The Last Shadow Puppets, and Gary Clark Jr.

But I have to say I prefer Tiesto's mix of the song over the original. The original's nice and mellow, but the Tiesto version of it has a lot of energy.

'Somebody that I used to know' has been ridiculously overplayed, so even though I like the song I cant stand it any more.
So this one won for me because it doesn't drive me insane.

It's not about taste. It's about lyrics and composition. For instance, I don't like Lady Gaga's music, but she does write good songs. Call Me Maybe is not a good song.

I know, some like those lyrics and composition. You don't have to. Personally I don't consider Insane Clown Possie people let alone what they do music but people like what they do and it is music to them. You have no idea how much it hurt saying that.
