    The Backstreet Boys

Backstreet's back? Let's hope not. Once was more than enough.

  4. 'NSYNC

    'NSYNC

Their heartfelt tunes made girls swoon, but even Justin Timberlake would admit that 'NSYNC was pretty cheesy.

  5. 98 Degrees

    98 Degrees

Sorry, Nick Lachey … 98 Degrees wasn't even the best boy band of the '90s.

  6. Hanson

Critics love to hate "MMMBop" (and the blonde brothers who sang it), but it WAS kinda catchy …

  7. Chumbawamba

We have one question for you: Is "Tubthumping" the most annoying song ever made?

Are you ready to spice up your life again with a little Girl Power? Or are the Spice Girls
better off left in a '90s time capsule? A new "warts and all" documentary on the infamous '90s girl group is being planned to coincide with their new musical, "Viva Forever," hitting London's West End in December, The Mirror reports.

"With worldwide sales of over 75 million, they defined a generation. But their full story has never been told. Producers want to spend time getting to know each of the girls and let viewers feel they’ve got the real insight into their lives," a TV source told the British tabloid.

Producers, however, are reportedly concerned that the group's biggest star, Victoria Beckham, might be too Posh to take part (smart girl), in which case the doc would be called off.

So, tell us what you want, what you really really want ... From the Spice Girls to Ace of Base to a multitude of boy bands, click through our slideshow and let us know: What was the worst pop group of the '90s?

The height of their popularity was mid-late 80's though.

Actually the height of their popularity was more late 80's and early 90's Due to the success of their second and third album. Which was in '88 and '90. After their first album flopped. They released their fourth and final album in '94 Which flopped. Again! In which i'm not suprised because they totally stunk in the first place! anyhow they officially disbanded in '95.

They were more 80's and didn't come out in the 90's like the rest. I know a couple of them attempted to come out with a solo album and failed miserably.

You're right. However NKOTB weren't the only band to come from the 80's. As was Chumbawumba (They've been together since 1982) were from the 80's as well. But as for the group, Ace of Base I guess you could say they were from the 90's. Because although they formed in 1987 they didn't come up with their debut album (The Sign) until 1993.

I hate to admit this, but I was really into them (I was 12). Aside from MmmBop being one of the worst songs ever, they were actually pretty talented (writing their own music and playing their own instruments, as preteens and teens).

I loved and still love The Spice Girls, although their last album I would like to forget. The Spice Girls and B*Witched were the best "girl bands" (ever), though I think Spice Girls was probably better....
    Always hated Hanson.

Honestly, these groups aren't that bad compared to some other ones of the time. I picked 98 Degrees because they were my least favorite when they were around. I like the other groups listed above.

I'm not a big fan of '90s music, but I will say that I kind of like Hanson with the exception of mmmBop that was on the radio all the time. They actually played their own instruments. Kind of unusual for '90s pop bands.

Just because they are the ONLY one of all those groups who I didn't love!! I really hate this whole "Act like things we liked a decade ago were so awful" thing. Just because some people think they suck now does't mean they did then. =[

    My analysis of them all...

Chumbawumba - I have no idea why this band are on the list. They are an alternative folk group with a career of over 30 years. They have anarcho-punk ideals, and still tour regularly. Anyone that picks this band have literally no idea what they're talking about.

Hanson - Yeah Mmmmbop was kind of annoying. But let's face it, they're still going. They still tour, and they write/perform themselves. It may be crappy pop, but at least it's not manufactured crap.

The Spice Girls - Say what you will, yes they're manufactures, yes most of them are talentless, and yes they are the epitome of cheese. But they were effective. They weren't just a flash in the pan disposable pop act, they were a cultural powerhouse that are still talked about today. They brought post-feminism to the masses, fair play to them. As cheesy as they are. Plus Mel C can actually sing, and is a really nice lady.

98 Degrees - I have no idea who this group is. So I'm picking them.

The Backstreet Boys - They may be crap. But they have some good tunes. So it doesn't matter, certainly not the worst.

Ace Of Bass - Yeah, these were one hit wonders. They weren't good. But All That She Wants is a tune from my childhood that will always sneak up into the back of my mind for no reason... whic...

'NSync - Similar to the Backstreet Boys. Crappy pop songs. But spawned the career of Justin Timberlake, and let's face it... that guy has released some brilliant pop tunes.
