Social Video Game About Jesus: Awesome or Awful?

Ever wonder what it would be like to watch Jesus duke it out with the Devil? Well, presumably, that's what you get to do in "Journey of Jesus," a point-and-click Facebook game by Lightside Games that's being promoted as "the first-ever Messiah-based video game." We couldn't vouch for the validity of that claim, but it's probably the first social game about Jesus. The strange game is picking up enough press to get a mention in Time magazine. So far, it's got upwards of 2 million users.

The gameplay is pretty straight-forward -- players controls a cartoony biblical version of themselves as they help Jesus and the disciples out by performing point-and-click tasks, like gathering wood to fix a cart or clearing a thorn bush to get to the baptism. The social part comes in the form of sharing -- users also get to share their progress with their Facebook friends and receive perks for doing so, kind of like "Farmville." Now, we're not sure if that fight with he devil is literal or figurative. Many of the ads show the Lord in a boxing ring with his sandal perched on Satan's chest, but that could just be because it was released on the same day as "Diablo III." Visit the game's Facebook page, click "Play Game" to give it a shot -- and let us know how you feel about the video game about Jesus.

Faith ≠ evidence, that's just pure ignorance and a fallacy at that. I can say "I have faith that I'm going to fly", and jump off a cliff, and promptly fall to my death. Just because one has faith does not make what one has faith in true, nor is that faith evidence for it.

Because, someone made the universe and everything in it. God didn't put us here for no reason. There's a reason. I sure you. :)

someone? Really? Then who or what made that someone? Before you say they were always there, how about we skip the added complexity and simply say that the universe was always there? Invoking the supernatural for things you don't understand is childish nonsense.
There is more than one creation myth. More than one that claims it is the truth. How do you decide? I could write a new one now, wait a couple thousand years and will it be true too?

I want to see the video to give a review of the video. Jesus has to be in us to do the merciful works of him. Jesus does not like humans that are deceptive, froward = hurtful liars, stone throwers, accusers. condemners, and killers. He know the humans that do those things are their own worst enemy.

If you could play as zombie Jesus it might be koo, otherwise it would be better to play as god. Smiting villages, flooding planets, ordering the murder of all men, women, and children in a town, manipulating peoples lives (like jobs) now that sounds like fun.

By seeing the evidences, which is all around, always being proven by nature and sciences, also other writing that time surpports the events of Bible - and the one thing most people forget, It's faith.

You can have faith in anything, that doesn't make it true.
The evidence does not support the bible's account of many things. That's how we know it is mostly fiction.
Your statement that the evidence supports the bible is just plain wrong. Bats are not birds, the Earth is much older than 5-6 thousand years, there was no great flood, dinosaurs walked the Earth and died out long before man evolved, etc.

Is US Army crime not disrespectful to you Lord? They say "In God we trust" on dollar bills, and then they go and kill innocent people at taxpayers expense. If you are not American, I apologise for my comment. If you are an American, look in the mirror and "make that change-man in the mirror"- one of the most disrespectful countries as far as God is concerned.

Ever notice how much time atheist spend on prooving God does not exist? Physicist know that there are so many galaxies and universes that they are uncountable. They theorize multiverse and have the math to back it up. These scientist entertain the probility of advanced races that can travel through worm holes and have science capabilities that would seem God like to us. But atheist can't believe in God. Go figure.

You've been watching too much star trek. And if "god" was an Alien race that travelled through wormholes and somehow figured out how to break the light speed barrier, it wouldn't be god now would it? It would be an Alien race from another part of the galaxy, or another galaxy entirely. In another galaxy our rules of physics may not apply to them; they may have their own set of physical laws. But that's not god. No such thing.
  • swp Larry M 2012/05/18 18:03:59

Atheist don't spend any time proving that God does not exist. They can't prove that anymore than theists can prove that there is a god.
They spend time not believing that there is a god because they have found no compelling evidence to suggest that there is. They do not invoke a deity just because there are things they don't understand.

I've been to catholic school my entire school career, including college. With that being said, many young kids know more about Call of Duty and Modern Warfare than they do about Jesus Christ. So by incorporating Him into the video games they play everyday, I think it'll enhance their knowledge of religion.
