Social Video Game About Jesus: Awesome or Awful?

Ever wonder what it would be like to watch Jesus duke it out with the Devil? Well, presumably, that's what you get to do in "Journey of Jesus," a point-and-click Facebook game by Lightside Games that's being promoted as "the first-ever Messiah-based video game." We couldn't vouch for the validity of that claim, but it's probably the first social game about Jesus. The strange game is picking up enough press to get a mention in Time magazine. So far, it's got upwards of 2 million users.

The gameplay is pretty straight-forward -- players controls a cartoony biblical version of themselves as they help Jesus and the disciples out by performing point-and-click tasks, like gathering wood to fix a cart or clearing a thorn bush to get to the baptism. The social part comes in the form of sharing -- users also get to share their progress with their Facebook friends and receive perks for doing so, kind of like "Farmville." Now, we're not sure if that fight with he devil is literal or figurative. Many of the ads show the Lord in a boxing ring with his sandal perched on Satan's chest, but that could just be because it was released on the same day as "Diablo III." Visit the game's Facebook page, click "Play Game" to give it a shot -- and let us know how you feel about the video game about Jesus.

I wonder how the Norwegians from long ago would feel about seeing Thor and Loki in comic books and videogames.

I voted awful only because I bet it is horrible. It would be nice to see a bible game made decently with good graphics and story telling elements so even if you weren't christian it would still be a good play.

I'd like to see a Jesus FPS game in the vein of Counter Strike though Jesus' melee kill would be impaling an opponent with his palms.

That was John Adams, not Thomas Jefferson. Thomas Jefferson wrote his own edited version of the bible!

Come on it's American history and I'm an Australian and know this!

while i respect Thomas Jefferson's thoughts, i respectfully disagree, I like Stephen King a lot more, dramatic, suspenseful... I can really get into it, the Bible, while a great story, is just a little too out-there for me to get into ;) im not that into fantasy

I know I didn't have to buy the game, that just sounds like it would suck, talking all about jesus and all.

He was an amazing man that did amazing things for mankind. More then anyone in modern history even if you don't believe he was the messiah. He fulfilled a prophesy but as for this game I think it is as much about teaching Christianity to young people as it is about entertainment who prefer that sort of interaction rather than books.

I like it to a certain extent... Its an interesting way to spread the word to our youth considering they spend so much time on the computer. Sad that we can't keep their attention long enough to learn it without a 'game'

I'm sorry, I'm trollin'. This makes me cry from laughter, as this adds to my religious views even more so, as the commercialism of religion, to appease the people rather than to keep with values....
    *sigh*.

agreed--it reinforced my views on religion as well--and its laughable that they will tear apart the actual morals and values in society and then turn around and commercialize it for profit... unfortunately that is typical "modern" America.
