'SNL' Mocks Miley Cyrus: Funny or Lame?

Miley Cyrus has been snapping back at the media's portrayal of her as moody and negative, but "Saturday Night Live" took a different approach to making fun of the young Disney star this weekend.

New cast member Vanessa Bayer played Cyrus as the host of a talk show called "The Miley Cyrus Show," on which a cloying and vapid Cyrus uses the phrase "pretty cool" in just about every sentence and performs a painfully mundane "monologue" that consists of one inane joke about French people.

Her father, Billy Ray Cyrus, played by guest host Bryan Cranston of "Breaking Bad," serves as her combination in-house band and over-supportive sidekick.

In the sketch, Cyrus interviews Johnny Depp, played by another new cast member, Paul Brittain, but doesn't really give him a chance to say much. She fires off questions too quickly for him to respond, then cuts to a clip of her new movie.

As for Depp, the show made a couple of cracks at the actor's tendency to play "dark" characters.

I think they should've done more of Miley's faces like her Puppy dog eyes and scrunching up her nose. I don't hate Miley but I don't love her either. I feel sorry for her.

That girl is so annoying, the comedian didn't quite catch all of the annoying-ness, however she did do the mouth movements and her little fidgety things pretty well
God i hate that little girl, she gets on my nerves every time i hear about anything she's done
probably doesn't help my sister tends to watch her show on weekends

But as SNL does it in the spirit of humor, in most cases, it usually make a stronger showing of the person they poke fun at. Not sure why everyone seems to not like Miley. Must be the green eyed monster in all of us. She made and you didn't. Is that what this is all about? PRIDE??!! Just one of the 7 deadly sins.

Although she had the Miley accent and speech pattern down, the sketch was SO poorly written that it landed with a thud like a piano falling 30 stories. I usually like a little comedy in my comedy....
