This weekend James Bond took movie theaters by storm, when “Skyfall” celebrated the biggest U.S. opening weekend in franchise history. Box Office Mojo reported that the latest 007 installment took in an estimated $87.8 million in three days. That brings the worldwide tally to $518.6 million for the 23rd installment of the series, which stars Daniel Craig who plays the legendary secret agent for the third time.

The new film is well on its way to overtaking his first Bond movies, which currently hold the No. 1 and 2 spot on the overall earnings list for the super spy series. But money doesn’t necessary equate to quality. When it comes time for critics to rank the Bond films, "Skyfall’s" place is up for debate.
Rolling Stone magazine’s movie critic Peter Travers recently ranked all 23 Bond films and put the latest installment fifth on the list. He placed Craig’s "Casino Royale" right before it at No. 4. He gave a nod to the one-time Bond, George Lazenby, in his 1969 film, "On Her Majesty’s Secret Service." But the top two slots went to the Sean Connery flicks from the ‘60s "From Russia with Love" and "Goldfinger." None of Travers’ ultimate three films even breaks the box office top ten. What do you think is the best Bond film around?

Connery had the panache, the glint in his eye that made you question whether he was making fun of another character or was just being sarcastic, and the physical presence to make Bond seem bigger than life when he was fighting evil.
I wasn't surprised to see "Skyfall" take the number one slot in this poll. I would bet that half or more of those who answered the poll have never seen more than one other James Bond movie.
I was pleasantly surprised to see the film critic from Rolling Stone had my two favorites also had them listed #1 and #2 in the all time rankings.
Having had the opportunity to see the original Bond flicks roll out - and everything since, I would put "Skyfall" in the top 5-6. While it revealed his dark side, Ian Fleming never let a story pass without a very sexual (implied) co-star.

overall. But i felt that "Casino Royal" was more enjoyable.

Come on, seriously. It's like preferring to send smoke signals to talking on a friggin cell phone.
but goldfinger is also good too...Hmmm hard to choose i love 007 :)
how could you not see a movie where one of the villain's name is "pussy galore"?
