'Skinny' Website Calls Kate Upton Fat: So True or So Wrong?

When 20-year-old Kate Upton made her debut on the cover of Sports Illustrated's swimsuit issue this year, men wanted her and women wanted to look like her. Well, except for the people at a website called Skinny Gossip. The "pro skinny" site has slammed the model for having “huge thighs, NO waist, big fat floppy boobs." "Is this what American women are 'striving' for now? The lazy, lardy look? Have we really gotten so fat in this country that Kate is the best we can aim for? Sorry, but: eww! Fashion is supposed to be aspirational—and the kind of people who aspire to look like this shop for clothes at Wal-Mart. She looks like she would work in the back of a motorcycle shop in Nashville and give [a sexual favor] for $25."

Whoa! That's pretty harsh! And a big diss to Wal-Mart! According to Gothamist, Skinny Girl responded to the outrage with the following statement: "As a thin person, I was annoyed by our double-standards around weight. For example, people think nothing of telling a thin woman—to their face, in front of an entire group of people—how skinny they are and even to suggest what they should eat." She also says she's not pro-anorexia, even though she's been posting a "Starving Tip Of The Day" for years. Do you think "Skinny" should shut up? Or is she right about Kate Upton?

I actually would like it if she was a little bigger from the waist down. She really doesn't have any hips, but I look at that as an age thing, she is quite young.

Honestly why the heck does a woman have the be emaciated. Ok.......... we ARE a FAT MUTHA of a country but I like to see "curves" on my women, not rolls. She is divine.

Fat? Really? Come on now, America! This is the stuff that makes us look bad! I would think myself to be fat, I have a bit of fat but if I was her 'fat', I'd be glad to look like that. Do her ribs have to be sticking out, her boobs fake and her have lipo every week? That is the body of a woman and she looks like she takes good care of it. This is absurd.

She's real. I like that. Young women need role models like her. The reason she has "big fat floppy boobs" is because they're not stuffed with silicon. That's what a REAL boob looks like. I think she's hot. And she looks healthy. Why do you want to see woman who look like they have a disease or something? How is that sexy? I believe real is sexy, and this woman is gorgeous and I'm really glad to see real people being models, it's refreshing.

while I wholly endorse their dis of Walmart, I think Skinny Gossip is WAY out of line with the substance of their remarks. Kate Upton looks great and the push toward skinny is unwholesome and worse, unhealthy, not to mention totally misguided.
