Jenni Rivera, the Latin music star known by her fans as “la Diva de la Banda,” was killed in a plane crash on Saturday night at the age of 43. Her relatives have informed Telemundo that the Learjet 25 she was traveling on went down in Mexico’s Nuevo Leon state, leaving no survivors.

Rivera was born in the US, and first made her name in Mexico with her solo debut, “Chacalosa” – slang for “Party Girl.” It went on to sell over a million copies. Over her career, Rivera sold over 15 million albums, especially impressive as she mainly sang in Mexican musical styles, which are usually dominated by male artists such as norteno and grupero.

Her personal life was as filled with heartbreak as her lyrics; she was divorced three times, and had five children. She was also the star of a hugely successful reality show “I Love Jenni” on cable network mun2, and had apparently signed a deal with ABC to develop a show called “Jenni.” Were you a fan of Jenni Rivera’s music?

To be honest, I have never heard of her before this. But it is a tragedy for someone to perish that way, and especially in the prime of her life.

I was never a fan of hers....the reason most of you never heard of her is because she was just famous among people who listen to that type of music...it's just the same as a Bluegrass singer dying and us saying who? Because most people don't listen to that type of music..just an example...but it's still a tragedy in the way she died...she was a mother, sister and daughter...RIP

No, but i heard about this woman.
The most tragic thing about this plane crash is not only did she die, but many other people did as well. For example, a makeup artist that worked heavily for lady gaga. Her publicist, her lawyer, and her fight crew, also perished. Its a shame this had to happen.
Beautiful voices wont fade. C:

Yes

She was a very inspiring woman. Through out her life she faced and overcame unimaginable hardships. Many people hear about her and judge her about her divorces or her music. Yes Jenni did have 3 marriages, she divorced her first husband because she found out that he was sexually abusing their two daughters. Jenni also experienced domestic abuse. Through everything she kept her head high and inspired young women with her music. Rest in Peace La Diva.

Exactly my point... Shouldn't they be covering the important and political issues going on with Obama? I would like to hear more about him taking unlimited donation dollars from an amount unlimited of corporations for his "January Inauguration Celebration"... I read one story that this one day would cost $100,000,000.00 at the least... He's being sworn in secretly on the official Inauguration Day directed by the Twentieth Amendment of the US Constitution, however, he is celebrating one day later with the public on MLK Jr.'s Day... This is really disturbing, along with the billions of dollars of weapons and tanks he just gave as a Christmas gift to Egypt, an enemy to Israel... Hmmmm???

I may have heard her song in a mexican/american bar in NYC but her name is not familiar. It's like Selena,most people who knew her before she died were latinos,then she became famous around the world once her life was cut short.She used to wear beautiful mexican dresses,by looking at the picture.
