Should Black Americans feel inadequate as athletes, when White Americans totally kick butt in swimming and winter sporting events? Should birds fee inadequate because fish can swim? We all have a little light that shines.

Uh, NO!!!!!!! Look at precision skills like swimming, diving, shooting, equestrian, golf, gymnastics, water polo, cycling, volleyball-thinking sports as opposed to MOSTLY physical sports. Who mostly handles those?

Okay, so that means we all have different SKILLS, and it takes ALL of us to accomplish ALL of the skills.

And that is before we cover physiology and it's sociologic impacts based on genetics and origins.

How is swimming, water polo or cycling more "precision" than basketball or running? How is volleyball more thinking than football or any other sport? Gymnastics, equestrian and golf require much more finances than running track or ball play, so I would argue economics have more to do with who excels in those fields.

    Question??????

Do you really think "skill" or "thinking ability" has more to do with the ethnic makeup percentages of NFL quarter backs?

I don't think money is an issue with athletes. I do think many sports require MUCH more thought, and track requires little though. Run, thats about it. Jump a hurdle, then run, yeah, not brainiac material there. I don't know what the percentages are but it is a more recently that quarterbacks happened to be of color, that was a HUGE issue in the late 80's and early 90's because they just WERE NOT getting those positions. Genetics have a LOT to do with ability.

For the record, swimming is the most "athletic" sport I can think of.

    And not dominated by whom???????

It requires concentration and thought to breathe and focus on the goal line while moving all the body parts in a tiny space-try breathing under water.

No one in my family or extended family watches track. And none of our friends watch track, so it must be a sub event for a lot of us. Running-who cares.

Watch the swimming, and you'll see white people dominating. Or cycling. Or the winter olympics. The prominent differences in the physical structure of the different races gives each one advantages that enabled them to survive in the environments where those differences evolved. Those differences provide advantages in some areas now that we have settled the globe more heterogeneously. I don't let it concern me. Wait another thousand years and race will have disappeared completely, as it is no longer necessary for survival.
