Should Video Games Have ‘Girlfriend Mode’?

They should have a mode for less skille gamers, just gotta work on the name

I read the post dude but best friends forever doesn't sound like a gaming mode. What, youll have easy, medium, hard, and best friends forever levels? Doesn't fit

It's actually a skill tree rather than a gaming mode. Allows you to power up easier effectively, which means the game becomes easier. It's a little like setting a minus handicap.

Not at all, I have bffs who are wicked sick at video games. It's an insult just like the name girlfriend mode. Needs a new title.

Let be truthful just for the simple fact that he actually thought about making it a real feature is just a tiny bit funny. i know a lot of amazing female games and a lot of horrible once. But i mom mode in gaming that mite not be so bad..

Believe this or not my mom started me playing video games.. she was addicted to super mario at the time but today i couldn't pay her to play something. She simply believe its to hard for her.

OK, 1. I can't play Halo and COD and Battlefield 3 very well, but I still try. 2. As a female, I have less difficulty playing as a male character rather than the extra girly, super sized boobs chicks is dresses that they normally have in video games from Japan. 3. I am sick of the stereotype that there are only two types of girls: The super girly type who squeals instead of screams, has long hair, and constantly need a man to take care of her, and: The super tomboyish type who normally has daddy issues and hates everyone.

I'm somewhere in between those two. Lots of girls are like one of these two, but more often than not, girls are very different than the two I've stated.

^o^ As long as you enjoy playing that's all that matters. You get better with practice.

As for the two stereotypes...you would be amazed at how true that is. =P There 'are' some girls that don't fall into either of those categories, they're just in the minority and usually the sought after ones ^_^

And I don't fall into either of these stereotypes, but nor does my mother, or grandmother.... and I'm pretty sure if I had a sister, she wouldn't, either.

There are more awesome females in games than most girls seem to notice o.o Lightning (Final Fantasy), Ellie (Dead Space 2), Juliet (Lollipop Chainsaw), Alice (Alice Madness Returns), Chun Li (Street Fighter), Lara Croft (New Tomb Raider), Anya and Samantha (Gears of War), Kat (Halo), the list goes on o.o Yes there are still some annoying squeely girls in games but usually there meant to be laughably annoying not sexist. As for the big boobed skimpy girls they are put in game for the sex sells aspect just like rugged bad ass dudes are more than half the time made to be appealing to women don't believe me? Look at all the different types of video game dudes that have fan girl legions such as Cloud (Final Fantasy)

The only female in that whole list who I actually think is 'awesome' is Kat from Halo: Reach, and you forgot Miranda Keyes, also from Halo. She's pretty awesome.

Well each to his own I guess XD But Im saying that there are lots of women in modern games that don't fall under the categories you listed XD

The term "Girlfriend Mode?" Sexist and degrading.

After reading the article it doesn't seem THAT sexist, his words were, but the concept isn't. A character with a skill set, that makes their shooting so good that aiming is not needed. Doesn't seem like a bad idea. So what if the character is a girl? Would it still be sexist if it was a guy?
Anyway it's not like it's a legitimate Girlfriend Mode, just one person has called it that.
Okay, maybe I should've chosen no, but doesn't matter now.

While i dont agree with the name "girlfriend mode" i would like a mode allowing me to not destroy my lil'bro ALL the time. so bad name,good idea :)

Seeing as how i am a female gamer, and don't have nor plan to have a girlfriend, this mode would be useless.
Do game designers not realized that females are easily making up at least 40% of their audience? (Thats not statistic, just a mere estimate from the noggin.)
Every female i know, that is not over the age of 30, enjoys and is either a casual or hardcore gamer.
I myself am very good at FPS and do better than half the brats on Live that I've played with.

I want such a mode because I suck at video games :) Of course they shouldn't call it girlfriend mode, but I'd love to see a setting for people like me who don't have lightning-fast reflexes.

I'd have no problem with a mode like that, because some people really need it. I just have one with the name.

--except I'd be the one using "girlfriend mode" cause when I play COD with my son.. I'm the "girlfriend" clearly. "prison bitch mode" would be more appropriate given our relative skills.

So there needs to be a Spaz Mode, not a Girlfriend Mode.
