Girlfriend mode on video games? Is this a joke? In a recent interview with Eurogamer, lead game designer John Hemingway revealed a new skill tree called "Best Friends Forever," which is a mode designed to make things easier for people who can't aim as high as more skilled gamers.

And what does Hemingway casually refer to this mode as? Girlfriend mode. Wow. Way to set us back a few decades, dude. Do you think it's OK for video games to have a "girlfriend mode"?

You’d think that by 2012 game designers would have stopped insulting our intelligence by giving us female characters with gigantic conical boobs and tiny there’s-no-way-she-has-any-internal-organs waists. You’d think they would have created some virtual woman we can get behind. You’d especially think that since it’s been shown female gamers outnumber male gamers, designers would respect their audience and do everything in their power not to alienate us. Well, of course you’d be wrong.

I'm not disagreeing that Lifetime is sexist (towards men) and other things are sexist against women. But, however, does that make it right to fabricate another unneeded video game mode with an unnecessary sexist name?

i only agree w/ the part that they need to let the girls learn to play instead of using a girlfriend mode. that mode jus makes the game less exciting and less challenging.

If you can't play the game, then don't. Also, calling it "girlfriend mode" is just insulting. I know girls who kick guys' asses at games. I'm not the biggest gamer, but I'd be fine once I was handed a remote, I've played before, and I'm roughly up to date with what goes on. It's really ridiculous that there's this idea of girls not being able to play. It's probably just bimbos who can't, and come on, how many true gamer guys can get a bimbo? And if they do, they hardly want to play video games with them anyway...

Bad idea.

I'd like to see a Training Academy mode, designed to give you the skills you'll need later on.

And I'd like to see more "cooperation" games, that let two human players take on an AI enemy or team.

The real problem here is girls playing video games. We don't need it.
Yeah, there are hardcore gamer girls, but what us guys don't need is a bunch of girls suddenly being interested in playing games because they're so easy now, and taking up all our space and or fun.
Single guys may like girl gamers, but if you're in a long lasting relationship, not so much.

As long as they don't ruin the game by adding it in, I wouldn't mind. I don't have to deal with girlfriend mode since I'm dating guys that are just as good at the game as I am.

Yeah, I'm not sure where THAT statistic came from. I'm a girl and a gamer and I don't know ANY other girls that play games. Not one! The internet assures me that I am not the only one, but I don't personally know any. If female gamers outnumber male gamers than I am a cucumber.
