Should Video Games Have ‘Girlfriend Mode’?

There's already an "easy" mode...?

maybe not a quote on quote "girlfriend mode" but just a mode for inexperienced gamers.

Based on my experience, if you have a girlfriend who would ever entertain the notion of joining you instead of bitching about you gaming, then she's probably already a competent gamer. Also, most games already have the option to change the difficulty settings, so this is kind of a moot question.

I think that the people who can't aim as great as the higher-ranking players should have to get to the top the same way the pros did: practice. Everyone just seems to whine about everything being "too hard" these days. And sometimes the task isn't even hard! A lot of us are just spoiled.

Yes, but it should be renamed to what it used to be called in the old days: Easy mode. What's wrong with "Easy, normal, and hard mode"

No. Fact of the matter is I beat all my guy friends on games of almost any kind, including the male orientated ones. It's not just a guy thing. Maybe we should make a boyfriend mode instead?;)

I have been gaming since I was a small child and I am amazing. Just the other day I was playing Time Crisis 4 at the arcade with my boyfriend and he ran out of money before I'd even lost my first life. Yes I have a vagina. Perhaps the "girlfriend mode" (which is in no way the official name) is intended for people like your boyfriend. Hemingway himself is sexist, but the idea of such a mode isn't.

The concept is absolutely fine. The terminology is regrettable, but as it's unofficial, there's no reason to complain.

Not only is this mode unnecessary but it is also sexist what is this telling the youth of our world its telling boys girls are less capable and girls that there is no point in trying and that's just not true

I tried girlfriend mode but it kept crashing periodically... and I had to keep spending money on addons for it to work properly.

I think that "Girlfriend Mode" refers to gamers who only become gamers because their partner is, thus they don't put a lot of dedication into it and they suck. Still was an idiot move, but I'm saying that we can't judge(looking at you, Raven) without thinking through other possibilities.

I don't trust the gaming poll stat saying female gamers outnumber male gamers. I call BS on that!

Only if they also have "Fat Kid Mode," and "Pizza Face Mode." If they cover all the bases, it could actually be funny.

I am a girlfriend to a guy. And I can kick his ass as most of the games we have. A couple he can beat me in. Gender has no effect on game play.

Games are allready too easy unless you count Darksouls, and really? I know some girls that kick most of my friends ass in videogames...though such a mode might be perfect for my girlfriend as games are not her suit as much as she does enjoy them when she does play.

is this some kind of joke? girls play video games too. i like to play games like ''mafia wars,dragon age legends'' which whould be considered ''male'' games from this guy and others like him and i'm awesome!!!!

I've been gaming since I was five. Video games aren't gender specific.

That is amazingly sexist and was probably designed by should jealous tosser who was getting beaten by his girlfriend on COD or something. Girls can play games just as good as men can. I mean I'm a girl and my brother has still yet to beat me in half the games we have :)

In 2003, i stayed with my brother for a bit, his entire household consisted of gamers, included his wife., i knew nothing of gaming they started teaching me on the computer and on gaming systems, playing gran turismo was impossible. I finally became better enough to invest in the playstation 1, i increased my experiance with more confidence, gran turismo was no longer a big challenge, i started winning cars, i called my brother in and pointed out this purple car to him the specs stating only 8 were made period he was in shock he said even he had not won it and how did i win it show him. I now knew i was ready for the ps 2 and any game i wanted to play! I own the playstation 3 with backwards compatability to playstation 1 games, its spoiled, has all the trimmings, i have enough games to sustain me until the day i die, as well as the same in computer games, i'm a female amongst the almighty gamers, i got here like my opposite gender, we all arrived here the same way nothing special for either gender, practice makes gamers., any gamer will tell you all of that soffty soft while eradicating a badass boss isn't going to cut it exspecially when you[ve spent many hours on getting to that point! The fun is in the challenge either step up to the plate or move on gaming is treacherous waters and we love it, thats the thrill of it., if you can't hack it there's always something else to do!

I think it would be very offensive to female gamers. But it would likely suit my wife just fine as she never really plays any games, and we'd get a chuckle out of it.

Where is the fun in that? Everyone is just going to select Girlfriend mode lol no point. And I get my ass kicked enough as it is when it comes to online gaming
