Should Twitter Ban Courtney Love?

Some celebrities just don't know how to hold their tweets. Courtney Love is one of them. She reportedly launched a tirade of tweets from her private account accusing former Nirvana drummer Dave Grohl of "macking on" (and possibly having sex with) her 19-year-old daughter, Frances Bean Cobain. Both Cobain and Grohl's publicists are outraged, and Cobain went so far as to say her biological mother should be banned from Twitter.

In a formal statement, Cobain said "While I'm generally silent on the affairs of my biological mother, her recent tirade has taken a gross turn. I have never been approached by Dave Grohl in more than a platonic way. I'm in a monogamous relationship and very happy. Twitter should ban my mother." Grohl also added, "Unfortunately Courtney is on another hateful Twitter rant. These new accusations are upsetting, offensive and absolutely untrue." Is Courtney's daughter right? Should Courtney Love be banned from Twitter?

Nah, I think when you see Courtney Love, you're already figuring she's either drunk or high or just too many suicidal brain cells took the leap. I feel bad for her daughter, and for Dave Grohl, too.

Twitter can ban people, that is up to Twitter. Twitter is a private firm and people "accept/sign" a contract with Twittter and other firms when they sign up. I would guess a majority of people NEVER even read the TOS (Terms of Service).

    https://twitter.com/tos

Twitter is not a private conversation,a lot of people can make complete idiots of themselves on the internet. Twitter and Facebook make it possible. Which is why i don't use for personal conversations anything that can be used as a permanent record.

Intellect isn't a pre-requisite to using the internet, It should be..
My feeling about being able to understand legal documents such as the bill of rights should be a pre-requisite to being able to vote, This would eliminate a lot of idiots without a clue from the polling places. The same holds to for using the internet, perhaps if people had to pass a course in contract law to use the internet they'd be less likely to libel someone.

In fact I tend to think people assume a level of anonymity on the internet, I don't care on iota about Courtney Love. Her family strife is something she probably needs to learn better parenting skills on how to deal with rather than taking her concerns to a public forum to air.

That'd be stupid, twitter is meant for freedom of speech. Besides, Courtney may be too drugged up to realise what she's saying these days, but she's still a legend.

No matter how uncouth or inane the twit tweets, we live in a country that guarantees freedom of speech; however, the law does provide for redress of slander or libel.

You know what we need less of? Whiny crybaby rich people. There are things that are at least 100 times more offensive on Facebook and discussion boards, let alone 4chan. Saying, "That guy made out with my daughter and possibly had sex with her," would be a grain of sand compared to the Sahara of offensive content people get away with on social networking sites.

Hell no! She is one of the "leaders" of that band of "idiots" that spend their time tweeting their non-sensical sh[t. It is called the "twitter bugs" and it keeps idiots from doing themselves or others real harm. Until they find a way to make the Darwin's List, we need a method of controling them.

No one should be banned from Twitter. See, we have this little thing called a Constitution that gives us freedom of speech... I know, it's a pain in the ass, but we gotta live with it.

When it comes to a point that people begin to ruin the name of other people through speech, it is unprotected. This obviously has done no damage to anyone. Therefore, Love's twitter post is protected and isn't criminal. Twitter is a company, however, and can ban anyone for any or no reason at all if it wants to.

Its not the decision of the people, its strictly between Twitter and Love. Who even cares who a nineteen year old has sex with? Its no one's business but that of the partners, and I disagree with her mother trying to get involved. I support whatever decision Twitter comes to. They provide a (free) service, and its management is completely up to them.
