The National Football League is reviewing a new rule which would require players like Troy Polamalu to cover his hair. The NFL became concerned when the Steeler's Safety was pulled down by his hair by Kansas City’s Larry Johnson.
The rule was purposed by Kansas City who require their players to hide their hair in their helmets. The committee has yet to rule on the matter.

I'd say it was up to him. Pulling hair should draw a personal foul like a face mask penalty, 5 yard for unintentional and 15 for intentional. IMO

all of us at the patriot organization do not want this rule, because of such players like laurence maroney, and randy moss was telling me he wants to go his hair out so there would be some controversy in our franchise.

I am a Steelers fan but if he wants to take that chance having it hang out, then it's on him. But what about all the others who wear they're hair out like that don't just pick on Polamalu.

He shouldn't have to tuck it in, but no one should complain about it when he gets pulled down by it.

Troy Polamalu knows the dangers of having his hair flowing in the wind. He plays defense, so he won't likely carry the ball and get tackled often. While I don't like seeing the flowing hair, it helps me recognize one of my favorite Trojans!

It's really up to him, if he wants his hair to get pulled, then yeah go ahead and leave it out. If he wants to tuck it in for his own safety, thats cool too.

I think it would make players look more professional and promote a better image for the league. Also, I think that it would eliminate a possible safety issue. The horsecollar rule was instituted because of the risk of back and neck injuries to players being pulled down by their collars. I think there could be the same risks if players are being pulled by their hair.

If his hair goes out of bounds, he's out of bounds. The coach should not allow big hair.

There are at least 8 other players in the NFL with long hair. Tucking it in is to THEIR advantage. With it out, it is legal to use it to pull a player down.

I think they should treat his hair like his jersey. If he wants to let it grow long, then he can take the risk of getting it pulled. I don't think the NFL needs to offer style advice to its players. At the same time, I don't think an opponent grabbing for his jersey should be penalized if they grab his hair instead.

undecided really. it really depends, safety--yes he should. but also nope because he, and others, knows what could happen. and they choose to leave it out.

Yes, safety first! And, the NFL can make their players conform to THEIR rules. If the players don't like it, then quit. When Johnny Damon went to the Yankees from the Red Sox, George Steinbrenner made Johnny cut his beautiful hair.......it is what it is.

K.C should be more worried about making the Play Offs and winning a Super Bowl than the length of a players hair or how he chooses to wear it.

Before long every defensive back will have hair hanging out. If they don't mind having it yanked then why bother with the rules.
The league should be busy figuring out how they can justify having New England cheat and beat the bookmakers out of millions of dollars just on the spread of the games that they admitted to cheating.
College would have had more punishment then the slap on the wrist the NFL gave New England. I personally watched two play off games that they cheated in and had my questions answered. Brady and his boys are not what their records show and when it comes time for the Hall Of Fame it will be remembered.
