NBA Commissioner David Stern is firm on a lot of rules and regulations -- most recently the NBA's age limit. For a few years now, the NBA has enforced an age limit of 19 and up, in order for a college basketball player to be eligible for the NBA Draft. In fact, Stern wants to add another year to his controversial age limit.
"We would love to add a year, but that's not something that the players' association has been willing to agree to," Stern said in recent interviews with the media. "They would probably say, 'What would you give us?'" Of course, the last thing Stern wants is more conflict with the players' association, after coming off of a long, stressful lockout that resulted in a shortened regular.
While many may appreciate Stern's commitment to rules, others will argue that if an 18-year-old can get a full-time job right out of high school, then they should be able to play professional basketball -- if they are good enough -- or if a team thinks they are. With the age limit, it leads to various "one-and-done" college players such as Derrick Rose, who while exciting and accomplished, may hurt collegiate programs in the long run. Should the NBA lift it's age ban once and for all?

AGE_ISTS!!!
What I would like to see is where they only draft seniors- this would ensure a kid completes their obligation for the school that is footing their "education"(and for most of these thugs, actually learning anything is a minor miracle) and hopefully get them to start realizing you honor the contract you sign
Sounds pretty much like thugs to me- and that is all sports
Wrong choice opps
COLLEGE SHOULD HAVE AGE LIMITS
that is all.
The colleges benefit and the NBA benefits from this..
Could you imagine some of these kids without a College Coach there prior to the NBA. We would have "The Last Boy Scout" coming true.
We never hear about these types of restrictions for MLB, golf, tennis, or even soccer.
They haven't paid that much but they did for basketball.
The NBA also gets to weed out those that are billed right out of high school but really don't mature. It same the NBA millions and then the kids flounder in the collegiate ranks.
Its a win/win.
Personally.. I want to know where the law is that says a high school student must go to college immediately after high school. What about those that join the armed services. Those that decide to work a year or travel. It just so happens these kids can earn 20 mill and then go back to school. What is wrong with that?
