NBA Commissioner David Stern is firm on a lot of rules and regulations -- most recently the NBA's age limit. For a few years now, the NBA has enforced an age limit of 19 and up, in order for a college basketball player to be eligible for the NBA Draft. In fact, Stern wants to add another year to his controversial age limit.
"We would love to add a year, but that's not something that the players' association has been willing to agree to," Stern said in recent interviews with the media. "They would probably say, 'What would you give us?'" Of course, the last thing Stern wants is more conflict with the players' association, after coming off of a long, stressful lockout that resulted in a shortened regular.
While many may appreciate Stern's commitment to rules, others will argue that if an 18-year-old can get a full-time job right out of high school, then they should be able to play professional basketball -- if they are good enough -- or if a team thinks they are. With the age limit, it leads to various "one-and-done" college players such as Derrick Rose, who while exciting and accomplished, may hurt collegiate programs in the long run. Should the NBA lift it's age ban once and for all?

too bad if he gets hurt at the college level....
after nba he can afford to go back to school later.
In a lot of ways .. it would be far better to RAISE the age instead ..
Too many times .. these kids .. are not even bothering with the Education part
(which is sad indeed .. those scholarships could better serve OTHER Kids .. who want to and will work hard for their DEGREES)..
I'm also for reforming the College Sports Scholarship process too ..
Too many times, talented scholars are NOT able to go to College ..
All because so much $$$$$ is going to those who will never and never had any intention of finishing any schooling.
