Should the "Miss" Beauty Pageant Board have been more strict with their judgments in the recent Conner/Blair controversy?

MissKitty January 28, 2007 19:20:22

According to Wikipedia:

"On 14 December 2006, controversy erupted when TMZ.com published an article stating that Conner might be dethroned for unacceptable behavior in several New York City bars. According to a report, sources told TMZ.com that Conner is "out of control".

Executives of Miss USA pageant — Donald Trump and its broadcaster NBC — met the same day to discuss whether to release Conner from her duties. The Miss Universe Organization released a statement saying that Conner had not been dethroned and that they and Trump would be "evaluating her behavioral and personal issues" and would make an announcement within the week.

On 15 December 2006, TMZ reported that Conner would be stripped of her crown, and that first runner-up Tamiko Nash, who gave up the Miss California USA title in October, would inherit the Miss USA title. This was neither confirmed nor denied by the Miss Universe Organization.

The 16 December 2006 edition of the New York Daily News reported Tara had tested positive for cocaine, had lustily kissed Miss Teen USA Katie Blair in public, and had sneaked men into their Trump Place apartment. One New York City nightlife veteran said "She really is a small-town girl. She just went wild when she came to the city. Tara just couldn't handle herself. They were sneaking those nightclub guys in and out of the apartment." ... The fate of Conner was announced on 19 December 2006, and despite much media speculation, Conner was not dethroned as Miss USA. "I've always been a believer in second chances," Trump said at a news conference."

You know some of the time I find my self farting like a Nile Crocodile in the mid day heat of an Egyptian summer. Blissful as it may seem I turn to the wizard within for a serial moment of self affirmation introspection diagnostic evaluation just to make sure my unilateral bioconscience is aligned with the creative substance on the outer most limits of realization as well as the grand schematics of the natural law governing this universe we call home.

the questions isn't about this particular dethroning, more so it should be "should we continue to have these useless pageants still?". don't you think they are ridiculous and completely passe? i mean, c'mon! talk about LAME.

She is a role model for young women everywhere. Making her step down and then helping her into rehab would send the right message. The runner up who is clean and sober could hold the title.

I agree with the result, but am dumbfounded by her actions. So she works most of her life to achieve what she did and then tosses it to the curb.

What is our country for if not for girls getting frisky with other girls? For once, i agree with the liberals, we all deserve second chances.

The point of having people in roles like this carry the crown for the year requires them to behave and set an example. The pageant also needs to show that it does value character and not just looks.

Second chances are fine except when you have won a position that carries responsibility with it. The runner up deserved the chance to take over.
