Should the First Lady Be on the Cover of Vogue?

The fashion world is buzzing this week after news spread that famed photographer Annie Leibovitz was at the White House on Thursday. Adding fuel to the fire was the word that a “Vogue” staffer was on the White House press plane that same day.

So will Michelle be on the cover of the fashion magazine for a second time? And will her husband, who had a completely clear schedule the day Annie was in D.C., join in on the fun? Leibovitz shot the Fist Lady’s premiere “Vogue” cover in 2009 and also did the official Obama family portrait in 2010.

If Leibovitz did, in fact, do another glamour shoot with Michelle, who will the First Lady be wearing? Will it be some of her favorites like Jason Wu, Isabel Toledo or Narciso Rodriguez. Or maybe she’ll go with Thom Browne who made her Inauguration outfit this year.

Clearly, Michelle has supported the work of many up-and-coming designers and has become a fashion trendsetter during her four years in the White House. Still, some wonder if gracing fashion magazines makes too much of her influence as a style tastemaker. What do you think? Should the First Lady be on the cover of Vogue?

Why is it the cons always want less for this First Lady then all the others. The only conclusion can be her skin color

Every first lady since Lou Hoover — save Bess Truman — has been photographed for the high-fashion magazine. Mrs. Obama appears wearing a magenta silk sheath dress by Jason Wu, who also designed her inaugural gown.

Vogue's editor at large Andre Leon Talley called his interviews with Mrs. Obama ahead of President Barack Obama's swearing-in ceremony "one of the best experiences of my life."

It's their magazine, I guess they can do whatever they want. I'm not going to buy it.

Btw, Hillary Clinton was on it in 1998. Hmmm... do I hear teeth-gnashing?

George Clooney was on in 2000 -- he seems to be the only man ever. If there's only going to be one, I'm glad it was him. He's great eye candy.

Thanks. Vogue is very snobby about who they feature on the front page AND the inside of the magazine. So that's WHY MO was picked for the cover, and NOT for her looks or style. (Lack of)

I checked past covers because I was curious to see whether they'd given a nod to all First Ladies for awhile and was surprised to see that the only other one was Hillary. I thought Jackie O would have made it if anyone did.

Pres. Obama is considering Anna Wintour for Ambassador to England or France. Possibly a 2nd cover for Michelle is an early thank-you?

First off, she is not royalty, she's not a lord or a ma'am or anything. She's the wife of the president and should not be treated like she's acting, like she's royalty. She's not attractive at all, just because she spends my tax dollars on expensive cloths, doesn't make her fashionable or attractive. Of course I am biased because I can't stand that woman. Hypocritical bitch. "I am going to control what school children get for lunch because we must become more healthy, they will get steamed carrots... while I am eating chicken wings and doughnuts." And while America was suffering and loosing their homes and jobs, she takes a huge entourage on a vacation to Spain, renting out an entire 5 star hotel for herself and her friends. All on the tax payers dime. And her husband telling all of us that we need to pay more, that those evil terrible people making more than 10 dollars an hour need to pay more taxes, yet that scum bag, in 2010 I believe, made many many many more times the money I made, but he swindled his way into paying less of a percentage in income taxes that I had do! Mr. "Fair Share you all have to pay more" Obama should have went ahead and donated more of HIS income on his taxes.

Gotta agree with ya! Someone once wisely said,"Some people bring joy wherever they go. Others bring joy whenever they go." (...as in out of sight!) I think this applies equally well to both Mrs. Obama as well as Mr. Obama! Personally I'd support sending both of them into outer space, with no possibility of return. But then I guess we'd need to figure out a budget to send Congress and their string pullers out there as well.

They also have No Idea that Obamas mentor and close family friend, Frank Marshall Davis, has naked pictures of Obamas mother as a 17 yearold in his personal collection, and is infamous for courting and photographing young white women. They also have no idea that there are NO pictures of Barry with ''his father'' until he was about 8 years old... no baby pictures together with his Father...? Whaaaaa...? Yet Davis has these pics of her just before her (family embarrassment) pregnancy.
