Should 'Teen Mom' Go to Prison for Hitting Her Child's Father?

I would think that some serious counselling would be the first step here. Some of the responses I see on this post are disturbing to say the least. Having been a counselor in a Domestic Violence Shelter I can't begin to tell you of the cases of men being abused as much as some women and never reporting it so the woman could get the help she needed because of attitudes like this. "he's a wuss", "what a pansy", that kind of thing. Men will NOT report abuse because many cops would treat them like this. In a hell of a lot of cases the men either ended up DEAD or severly beaten. Most men, now I did say MOST, are conditioned from birth that boys do not hit girls. To hit back even in self defense goes against everything they've been taught while growing up. Most simply choose to just walk away from the whole situation which in effect means they walk away from their children also. When they're gone the woman's anger is directed elsewhere.....usually towards the children. Just because a man doesn't strike back does NOT mean he's a wuss or a pansy. Spousal abuse should be reported and dealt with equally! But because of the types of attitudes displayed here it's often not and then it escalates into something much worse. We dealt with a case of a woman tying her husband up while he slept and beating him almost to death with whatever she could get her hands on. Took him years to come back from the beating. He had TRIED to get the law to do something but of course there were those "attitudes" against his "manhood". He stayed to protect his kids. He almost died to protect those kids. Thankfully the courts finally woke up and believed what he had been trying to tell them and took the kids and put her somewhere she could get the help she needed.
