Should Sir Paul Apologize For Bush Barbs?

SodaHead Celebs 2010/06/04 21:00:00
No, he’s entitled to his opinion.
Yes, he should not insult an ex-president.
I think McCartney ...
You!

We all know the gentleman’s agreement about past presidents not dissing the current occupants of the White House (okay, all of us except Dick Cheney). But nobody ever said anything about ex-Beatles not doing it.

Sir Paul McCartney took a shot at George W. Bush on Wednesday while visiting 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue to collect the Gershwin Prize for Popular Song, a lifetime achievement award from the Library of Congress. During the gig, he joked, “Getting this prize would just be good enough, but getting it from this president … “ trailing off. Later he added, “after the last eight years, it’s great to have a president who knows what a library is.”

That quip raised the dander of House Minority Leader John Boehner, who has demanded that the former mop top rocker apologize. “Like millions of other Americans, I have always had a good impression of Paul McCartney and thought of him as a classy guy, but I was surprised and disappointed by the lack of grace and respect he displayed at the White House,” Boehner told the conservative website Human Events. “I hope he'll apologize to the American people for his conduct which demeaned him, the White House and President Obama.”

Do you think McCartney should apologize?

    He's entitled to his oppinion
I'm entitled to my oppinion of Paul McCarney too.

I share John Boehner's sentiments in that I used to respect Paul as a classy guy, but now I see that he just another disrespectfull liberal.

As for should he apologize? No. He's a private citizen, not a public official.

...Like any other dumb-ass, bloated and egotistical celebrity, he's entitled to his opinion. They actually think we CARE what they think. I highly suspect McCartney made a special effort to write into his acceptance speech any juvenile, sarcastic remark, concerning president Bush, he thought would most impress Obama, and I'm sure it worked. Unfortunately for 'Sir Paul' he chose to bash Bush on literacy... that's actually one of the Bush administrations most shining achievements. You can bet Obama giggled and fawned over McCartney's remark with grade school enthusiasm. I hear Obama gets off on lighting farts in the Oval Office to entertain some of his Cabinet members. What does that tell you about the mentality of the current POTUS? About as much as the mentality of the ex-Beatle. Sorry, Paul, You not only made an ass of yourself, your brown-nosing certainly didn't do Obama any favors
    either.

The remark John Boehner said about Paul McCarthy demeaning "...the White House AND President Obama" is the height of hypocrisy. How about EVERY elected official on Capitol Hill who has bad-mouthed President Obama lead by example for every vile thing they've said about our president! I'd like to see Joe Wilson lead that group.

I find it ironic and fascinating that this request comes from BOEHNER, the ultimate poster-child for the rude, and disrespectful conservative, Christian, Republicans.

Although I like some of his music, I think he is just an entertainer, so I don't really care what he thinks about politics. It doesn't make any difference if he apologizes, because it would be insincere and only done for PR purposes. He already said what he REALLY feels. His opinion is no more relevant than Oprah's or Glenn Beck's.

He should have insulted everyone at the white house and said something really good about DR. RON PAUL!! (SUPPORTER OF PUT AN END TO THE FED AND THEIR FRAUD)

The idiot is entitled to his opinion but all this crap at the White House honoring people in the entertainment industry is a bunch of bull. The Government continues to be swayed (especially Democrats) by the crap coming out of Hollyweird, who do you think got Obama elected the brain dead listen to the likes of Oprah, MTV and a whole slew of other so called celebrities and got this man elected (also the media). Here is an idea Mr. President instead of throwing accolades on the super rich, how about recognizing everyday Americans who volunteer without pay or recognition for their work. Mr. President have you ever been to a VA hospital and seen the volunteers there helping our Vets or how about the volunteers who work at soup kitchens feeding the homeless, no you conceited bastard you haven't, you only care about those who can line your pockets and forget about those Americans who give and ask nothing in return.

And to Paul McCartney how would you like it if I called your Queen a crack Whore.

He should want to apologize, because his remark was less classy than his image. However, his image is his image, for him to attempt to spin as he sees fit, so let him make up his own mind as to how he wants to proceed. As it stands, though, if his ex-wife has occasion to knick him for a few million more bob, I'll enjoy her getting it a lot more than I enjoyed her getting whatever amount he was obliged to cough up earlier.

Paul is an obnoxious old slob that doesn't even know the Beatles's songs.
The dude looks more like an old woman with a hormone disorder.
He certainly doesn't deserve to be a "Sir" and he absolutely has no business mocking our previous President like that. To side with Nobama highlights his ignorance as well.
