This is over thirty years of being a wrestling fan talking here...
While i have no problem with Shaq doing a one off match at Wrestlemania, i believe that's all it should remain. Look, pro athletes who have a yen to try their hand in the wrestling ring usually do so with mixed results. Sometimes it turns out well, like when Floyd "Money" Mayweather took on the Big Show in a boxer vs. wrestler match, but then on the other hand, look at the "football" battle royal at Wrestlemania 2, which involved NFL stars like Bill Falic, Jimbo Covert, and of course, William "The Refrigerator" Perry. Then again, don't bother, it was pretty bad. Point being, Shaq doing a fifteen minute tussle with Big Show would be ok, Show's not exactly a technical master of wrestling, so the match itself would be mostly pushing, shoving, punching and kicking. But the WWE doesnt need aging sports celebrities right now, it needs to focus on it's newest talent, its freshest blood, and make stars of them the same way they made stars of Stone Cold Steve Austin and The Rock during the Attitude Era of the late 90's and early 2000's. Sure, Shaq, come for a visit at Wrestlemania 28 April 1st, 2012 in Miami. Just don't overstay your welcome...

According to his own Twitter account and a few recent interviews, retired NBA legend Shaquille O'Neal has strongly hinted that he will be involved with World Wrestling Entertainment on April 1 for the company's biggest show of the year -- WrestleMania XXVIII. But here's the catch: Shaq won't just be on the mic -- but in the ring -- or so it is believed.
It is heavily rumored that Shaq will be in one of the main events of WrestleMania, taking on fellow seven-footer Paul "Big Show" Wight, a multi-time World Champion, who has also starred in movies like "Knucklehead" and "The Water Boy." Shaq recently expressed interest in getting into mixed martial arts, even for just one time, but chances are the man formerly known as "Kazaam" would be better off in the sports entertainment world. It's less painful, or so we hope.
Shaq is a life-long professional wrestling fan and even teased a match with Big Show as far back as August 2009, when he served as guest host of WWE's hit show "Monday Night RAW." Now that Shaq's retired and no longer bound to an NBA contract, he can take care of his unfinished business inside the WWE ring. If Shaq takes on Big Show on April 1, it will be the biggest WrestleMania ever -- literally.
