Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback Robert Griffin III was selected number two overall in this year's NFL Draft by the Washington Redskins. As for being second string on the Redskins? That's not happening, according to Redskins head coach Mike Shanahan, who told the media over the weekend that he expects Griffin aka RG3 to be the team's starting quarterback. Training camp hasn't even begun yet and RG3 is already being thrown to the NFL wolves.
However, that may work to the rookie's benefit in the long run. He can prepare to be a starter as opposed to a guy watching on the bench, and he knows what he's in for. At least until he gets hit by an NFL-level defensive player. Still, it's puzzling there wasn't at least a quarterback competition between Griffin and a veteran, just to give him more motivation. Then again, the millions in Griffin's bank account should be motivating enough.
For years, Redskins fans have struggled watching their team go from coach to coach and quarterback to quarterback. There were some signs of progress with former quarterbacks Jason Campbell and Mark Brunell, but those were brief and didn't last very long. And while many fans may wonder why Griffin is announced as the starter so soon, they may also remember the infamously unspectacular Rex Grossman starting the last two seasons.
That'll cause them to wonder no longer. Can Griffin have immediate success like Cam Netwon, Matt Ryan, and Joe Flacco in their rookie seasons? He'll have his hands full in the NFC East—home of defending Super Bowl champs the New York Giants.

But i really dont understand the Redskins...why was their 2nd pick also a QB?
As long as the line Gives RG3 some protection he'll be good...
But you know every pass rusher in the league will be gunning to tackle the fastest QB in football..
He seems talented and mature enough. But it's the Head Coaches call! That's why he has the job and not you! No offense!
