Should Rihanna Play Whitney Houston in Upcoming Biopic?

Whitney Houston hasn't even been gone from this earth for a month, and there are already rumors of a biopic in the works. To be fair, this project was in the works before Houston passed away, but now there are names attached to it, and they might not be the names a critical public wants to hear. The Daily Mail claims Rihanna is the top pick at this point, with Jennifer Hudson right behind her. Vivica A. Fox and Jordin Sparks have also been mentioned.

Rihanna was courted for a similar role last year, when movie execs considered using her for a remake of Houston's "The Bodyguard." She turned it down, saying, "I hate it when singers do singing movies all the time, because you can never look at them as anybody else. I want to play a character. My whole life is playing Rihanna; being a singer won't be a stretch for me." Hm, we wonder how she would feel about playing Whitney though. Do you think Rihanna should play Whitney Houston in the upcoming biopic?

Actually who cares... but if you want to go on the basis of singing Rihanna does not have the pipes. You need someone like Jennifer Hudson... Unless they are going to dub all the singing which would suck

I don't think they should even make a movie. It's about time they stop idolizing these drugged out drunks that are suppose to be "ROLE MODELS" for our children. She was a drug addict and an alcoholic and should not be out there as someone who died a tragic death. She died the way she choose to live her life, on drugs and drunk. Let our children know this kind of living isn't living but death just waiting to happen.

Even being broad-minded on these issues, I don't see Rihanna fitting in that role.

No to everyone mentioned. Whitney was in a class by herself and actually there isn't a vocalist around today who can even come close to portraying her in a movie. if in fact a movie needs to made, make it a copulation of her viideo's, concerts, etc....

Whitney Houston could sing, but there are artist who don't get alot of air time on the radio or television who can sing in the same league as her. She got here start by listening to her betters, singing in church with her Mom and cousins.

Artists who are basically unknown would not be asked to portray Whitney in a movie since it wouldn't attract a large enough audience.Plus if they're not getting a lot of air time, how would anyone know who they are? or where to find them?.also, if there were in fact vocalists who were in her "league" i would think the general public would have heard of them by now.

Well I know she could do the singing---ACTING--I really don't know what her range in acting is. Now that I think about it--she may not be able to pull off all the layers of WH. WH went thru deep, dark times--Halle Berry could do the acring, but she'd have to lip sync the rest.

Oh God, no! And no to all the others mentioned. Whitney was too special, too unique, too gifted and tormented to be played by anyone I can think of right now. Rihanna couldn't touch her except perhaps in the looks department. Hudson would not be convincing at all. Vivica is cool but too old to play a young Whitney. And all of them would have to lip sync since there is no voice like Whitney's. Keep searching, Central Casting. Maybe your girl is an unknown.

No. There is no reason to have a "biopic".

You obviously didn't like her enough to make a movie out of her life when she was alive. But now you're willing to cash in on the money train when she's dead and has no say in how it's done?

    Disgusting.

I saw the outtakes on her current movie, Battleship, in the works where she plays a navy gunner & does a very good job. Of course I feel Jennifer Hudson would be the best of the bunch.

Here is some talk about "playing" someone who has just died. Whitney can play her own life, pull up the moves, the videos, etc. It is all there.

First, find someone who can sing - without the back up, techno, theatrics. All Whitney had to do was stand there and sing... She didn't need all of the other nonsense.

No way. Whitney, despite her shortfalls, was a classy lady. Rhianna, while she may sing and dance a good number, is not 'classy'; she is far more risque, never a trait associated with Whitney. A diminutive, soulful, good, warm and respectful person should play her. For my money, though it might take some 'work', the young girl on Glee has a sincere voice and demeanor, and I am sure there are some other, lesser known, who would present the same calm and character of our beloved Whitney. The person who said Halle Berry had the right thought; a warm, always classy woman.... I'll look if someone wants...but please, no Rhianna.

I'm with you on this one.... We don't need any movie on the drug using alcoholic. She should have been a role model but SHE WASN'T!

You have no vices, I presume. Whitney, despite her "issues," WAS indeed a role model. Her drug use was far more publicized than her good works, her generosity, and the abyss she fell into, permeated by demons and brimming with bad decisions that she tried to reverse. She REALLY DID TRY. Do some reading. And judge not that YE BE JUDGED! She is dead, for Chrisssake. Can you please show some compassion and respect.

Here here! People need to stop and think about the message they are sending to children by glamorizing/idolizing celebrity drug addicts.

They have some similarities in facial structure, but looks aren't everything. They need an actual actress to play Whitney.
