Cincinnati Bengals cornerback Adam “Pacman” Jones was recently ordered to pay $11 million to two Las Vegas strip club employees, who were injured in a shooting by a gunman said to be affiliated with Jones back in 2007. One of the gentleman was wounded, while another suffered a much worse, life-altering fate: paralysis from the waist down. Jones was never formally charged with the shooting, but it always seemed as though the terrible events of that night was a result of his doing.
Jones' lawyers have responded to the jury's decision stating "good luck" collecting that money, as Jones doesn't get paid until the regular season is near. That being said, given Jones' track record for getting in trouble with the law, one wouldn't expect the judge to be in his favor for an appeal. This is the same Jones that was suspended a year at one point by NFL commissioner Roger Goodell. It was almost as if he was the poster boy for why the NFL revamped and strengthened its player conduct policy.
While Jones was suspended, he once participated in professional wrestling, clearly going against his then-Tennessee Titans team's wishes. When the Titans cut him, the Dallas Cowboys decided to give him a chance. He then proceeded to underperform and get into an incident with security guards, who were hired to monitor him day and night. This recent verdict may not be for a new incident, but it does serve as a reminder of how one player made a powerhouse like the NFL look so bad numerous times. Commissioner Goodell gave “Pacman” another chance, but should he have banned Adam Jones for good when he had the chance?

"So if someone has a job and they do something criminal, you should do away with that source of employment all together?"
Are we worried about Pacman, or the whole industry. As an industry it is paid for by advertizing, and I see that as entertainment. That is why it has a commissioner, and the rules change to reflect society's tastes. Therefore, we have the choice to decide if football is a net gain or loss for society.
I love competitive sports, have been involved with them my entire life, but I would personally not want my children or grandchildren involved in American Football. It is more an eating disorder than a sport. In a game, there are only a couple of minutes of activities during the entire period. The chances of injury are great, the long term rewards few, you generally do not find 21 of your closest friends and play when you are an adult, which means it is a spectator game. It rewards aggression and cheap hits, and the focus is on hurting your opponent. Hit him as hard as you can. I know people like it, I used to follow it, and it is hard not to watch a Superbowl Game, but just because we have it does not make it good.
Who?
Vick did everything that PETA And the criminal justice system asked him to do, and CHANGED his behaviour. This clown has NOT.
