Should Octomom's Kids Be Taken Away?

When Nadya Suleman, a.k.a. "Octomom," said she had posed nude for Closer magazine because she needed the money, no one knew exactly how badly she needed it. But TMZ recently acquired a collection of photographs apparently depicting Suleman's living conditions, and it's not pretty. The walls are covered with graffiti clearly drawn by children, sparse furniture, dirty faces, kids using portable plastic potties in the backyard, and a door wedged shut by a chair with the words "do not enter" painted on it.

The photographs make for a disturbing scene, and prompted the Orange County Department of Children and Family Services to investigate Tuesday night. According to TMZ, Suleman's hairstylist went to the police and presumably took the aforementioned pictures as evidence. The hairstylist also told police some of the kids have to sleep on the floor. There's no word on what CFS decided, but does it sound like Suleman's kids should be taken away?

Not for anything she has done so far. This is not the Soviet Unior or Nazi Germany. She could be found to be abusive in the future.

I mistakenly click Yes. My answer would be no unless she asked for help if the load is too much for her to carry.

Why not do something to help her, why take away her kids? Is a couple of beds and some clothes too much to spend to keep a family together? I mean, if she's willing to pose nude for money to support her kids, she must care about them. Here's an idea, why don't they take the money they would spend to put her kids in foster care, and give it to her so she can afford to take care of them herself?

Nadya obviously has some serious mental issues. She has no education or technical skills to get a good job and take care of herself and her children. A lot of her children have autism. They need weekly therapy. Can Nadya afford this? Nadya's father was paying her rent at one time. How is she taking care of 14 (some "special needs" children by herself? And with what funds? Yes, she said she "loves children", but, is she REALLY able to give them the individual care/attention that all children need, to know that they are loved and cared for? Nadya is not a farm animal, like a mother pig having 14 piglettes and lying there, feeding all of them at one time. The mother pig is probably doing a better job of taking care of her piglettes.
What was Nadya thinking BEFORE she got pregnant? Was she watching "John & Kate Plus 8" and thought she could get her own TV show and make money like they did?
Having a child is a big responsiblity. Having 14!!!!! Really irresponsible if you know you don't have the means to support them all.
OH! And the cosmetic procedure to look like Angelie Jolie. I guess she was getting ready for the TV offers for her own TV show? Really sad situation.

The fact of the matter is she has far too many children to be a good parent. Especially
without a decient husband or a good boyfriend to be a dad for those kids.
Unless those pictures are outright hard core tripple X porn scenes, then the fact that she
posed sans clothes for a magizine, book, the internet, etc. should at best have only a very
minimal bearing on her ability to be a good mother. Many playmates and other playboy
models either are or later go on to be textbook examples of outstanding moms. Marianne
Gravette, Peggy McInteggert, and Rebecca Ferratti are a just a few examples of these.
The big issue being presented here is Nadya Suleman's ability to be a good mother to
not only those octopolets, but six other of her children as well. Although fourteen children or more was not uncommon during the last part of the last part of the nineteenth century and the earlier years of the twentieth century, these were large two parent, and two
grandparent families along with some aunties and uncles to boot. A mom usually had
a husband and a few other compendant adults to back her up. Ms. (Miss) Suleman has
just her echo, her shadow, and herself to support her. If she doesen't relinquish custody
of some of those kids then she should at least seek out some sort of assistance.

Also, Why can't she go have her hair done at Fantastic Sams or Supercuts. They do
at least as good a job if not better for a fraction of that price.

They don't actually have it all that bad. There is nothing suggesting the kids are going hungry. Just because they don't have luxuries that most of us have become accustomed to doesn't mean that they are in an unsafe situation.

Taking them away is too much. She's not abusing them. She will likely end up in court-appointed family therapy, though, and that may be for the best.

No, but from now on no help will be given to people rich or poor for having multi births caused by fertility drugs. Then yes take the kids from rich and or poor people. I hate that no one seems to care if a women is rich and has to many babies. It's still a over population thing.

I would rather had said, undecided. If she has a hair stylist, I'd have to wonder about that. With a situation like this, I'd have to weigh all the circumstances first. I can't see taking away peoples children because they may be poor or down on their luck...I feel if its truly bad, they need to help them, not break them up. Now, if she's just lazy and has water and doesn't clean the kids or wash their clothes or feed them, I'd want to weigh that too.

No, I don't think her kids should be taken away from her, but I sure don't approve of anyone deliberatly having that many kids with no means of supporting them either. She should be made an example of what not to do. But taking kids away? She obviously loves them, and unless there is abuse, I'm not for taking anyone's kids away.

I realize that the amount of children she had was because of artificial insemination, but sometimes life isn't fair. She obviously has too many, and something needs done, no matter how sad or drastic. The kids who get out of that circus are going to be better off. Besides, with all the online services around today, when they are old enough, thdy can locate each other layer in life. Not the happiest ending, but it's the right thing to do.

Nadya is obviously overwhelmed mentally, financially and physically. Having many kids for her gave her her 15 minutes of fame that had expired a long time ago now that those kids are toddlers and a handful. She has always wanted to be like Angelina Jolie even if sadly she is rather delusional, even had plastic surgeries to resemble Angelina but truthfully Nadya is just a wannabe and no Hollywood agent is beating the paths to her door to give her a show biz contract. The press had lost interest in her and her children have already abandoned them and moved on to other quarries. Sad for her children, as they are the innocent ones and now they will (or perhaps have been) be society's burden. I am worried about the future of these children unless the State of California steps in.

There's much worse going on than this looney having a hard time handling a team of kids.
The media should stop sensationalizing it because it feeds the crazies.

Funny how some people pop out too many kids, and every talk show host in the country will overfill their houses and driveways with gifts to help them. Yes, she was/is selfish for doing what she did, but I don't see the difference between her and other couples I've seen on TV having multiple births while not being able to afford them. She's being picked on because she's single. She clearly needs help, mental or otherwise, but the only people that are coming forward to "help" her are perverts that want to make money off her. She may be screwed up, but not nearly as much as this country is.

Truth is that this woman shouldn't have had THAT many kids in the first place. Never mind the fact that they clearly aren't getting the appropriate amount of supervision they need just look at the messy room and the crayon marks on the wall.

In the best interests of her children, that would ensure that they receive the care they need for their autism and other problems.
